Claremont Resort & Club

We stayed in the Tower Suite over our wedding weekend (4 nights). It was very hot in Berkeley the first two days, and the air conditioning in our suite was simply not functional. Our room did not get below 75 degrees those first two days. They did attempt to fix the air conditioning on the second day, but it truly just never worked. Even our final night there, when the weather in Berkeley was cooler, my husband was standing on the bed to try to fix the vent so the room would cool down. Other issues: - We were on the phone with guest services at 2am the first night discussing the air conditioning issues that were preventing us from sleeping, and yet at 8:30am the next morning, housekeeping came into our room and woke us up. - When we arrived, we pulled up our car to the front to check in and unload our things. We were immediately told by the car valet to pull forward/aside and there was no bellhop to help us unload. I spent an hour or two unloading all of our things, moving it to my family's hotel rooms (our room was not ready yet), and then later moving the things from their rooms to our suite on my own. We probably could have asked, but I found it odd that neither the car valet nor checkin offered to assist or pointed us in the right direction. - We asked for late checkout (1pm instead of 12pm) and they agreed, but said our keys would stop working at 12pm, so we'd have to stop at the desk to get new ones (????). Never heard of this at any other hotel. - Despite our late checkout, housekeeping came into our room at 12:30pm before we had left. Neutral, but of note: - The tower suite is quite small, and not what I'd consider a standard "suite". It is just one room (about the size of an average hotel room) though it does include private access to the tower with a nice lounge /table setup. - The tower suite does not have a tub. The good: - The tower suite balcony is quite nice. - The hotel is beautiful - The club is pretty nice, 2 swimming pools, pickleball, outdoor weight room, etc. Access included. - The tower suite was quiet tldr: The air conditioning issues were unacceptable, even if this were a lower-rated hotel. For a luxury hotel at the price we paid, it is impossible to recommend the Claremont.

I had a wonderful two night stay at the historic and beautiful Claremont Hotel with my partner. The grounds of the hotel are very nice and the hotel and the staff was very friendly.

Effie at the front desk was great. The hotel is nice.

We had a really nice stay and our room had a view of SF. We loved using the lap pool and the gym. Effie was so kind and the front desk staff was considerate and helpful.

Wonderful stay! Effie at the front desk took very good care of us and the resort is amazing.
