The Claremont Hotel Club & Spa in Berkeley, California

Views of San Francisco Bay and the city skyline are killer at the Claremont Hotel Club & Spa. That might be why the property was so appealing to a Kansas farmer who struck it rich during the Gold Rush and built an elaborate English castle for his wife. After a fire destroyed the castle the land changed hands, and was allegedly won by a developer in a game of checkers. When the Claremont opened in 1915, it housed a radio station and private school. Today, its architecture gives the resort a timeless sense of grandiosity.

Dive into one of the resort's lap pools to get your blood flowing. Recline under a blue umbrella on a poolside lounger while a waiter serves a seared Ahi tuna niçoise salad for lunch. Take an afternoon drive to downtown Berkeley, checking out the shops on Fourth Street on the way to Berkeley Marina. Sip chardonnay as the Golden Gate Bridge twinkles in the setting sun.

From start to finish this was a completely effortless stay. From the beautiful ground to the lavish rooms 10's across the board! I was lucky enough to have Heaven help me out at the front desk. She was so sweet and made the entire experience a positive one. As I was standing at the counter holding my garment bag, my hanger broke and without a hesitation she called over a coworker of hers to grab me another hanger. Something so small but made a huge difference... it just goes to show that they truly care. I highly recommend choosing the Claremont!!

The staff are all customer oriented from park attendants, waiters, and receptionists and they make you feel welcomed. We have been satisfied staying at any Fairmont Hotels and will recommend, although a bit pricey but worth it.

We stayed at here in April of 2018. We were getting ready to leave for a wedding and my daughter's zipper burst open on a brand new dress. I called the Concierge and asked if they have a seamstress or tailor on site. They did not. HOWEVER the Concierge said she used to sew and would be up to our room to see if she could help. She and an employee from housekeeping were able to sew my daughter in to the dress and we were able to make the wedding on time! These to ladies when above and beyond and saved the day!!! We will be back!

I wish I could have stayed more than one night at this gorgeous hotel. My room was quaint while still being modern and well decorated. The marble bathroom was gorgeous, and I loved the rainfall shower.

Bay view rooms are worth it. Upgraded bathrooms. Bedding is excellent. Service is stellar. Views of Bay are awesome. Good value for the Bay area, which is high to begin with. Fitness club and pool is wonderful. Food is expensive on site, but it is close to cafes and shops and other restaurants.
