Claremont Resort & Club

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience with the Claremont Hotel was extremely disappointing. I have returned here multiple times as a guest, but no longer will visit the property. The hotel cancelled our reservation on the day of check-in, leaving us scrambling to find another place to stay. Not only was this inconvenient, but I am also pregnant and this created an unnecessary amount of stress. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of accountability. There was no offer of a credit, a future stay, or any meaningful attempt to make the situation right. We were told they would find us a comparable hotel at the same rate, but nothing came of it. Even getting our refund required multiple follow-ups. I understand that unexpected issues happen, but great customer service is measured by how they’re handled. Unfortunately, the Claremont Hotel failed on every front, and I would not recommend staying here.

Effie at the front desk went out of her way to help me when I was having issues with my original room. Without missing a beat, she switched my room, upgraded me for my troubles, and did it all with a smile and kindness. It truly turned around my experience and I was able to enjoy my stay the remaining four days. Effie is a gem!

We've been staying at the Claremont for almost 20 years at the end of July and the facilities (especially the pool and gym) are top notch, and the weather has always been spectacular. We didn't get the type of room we've stayed in the last two years, and the first room we were assigned smelled like a stable. The room we ended up with overlooked the back when workers used loud machinery at all hours. Our rental car was vandalized and the staff accused us of lying that the incident occurred off premises. On the positive side, the food and service were good throughout the hotel and the pool and gym remain wonderful (if a little crowded on Saturday).

Beautiful property… and the BEST part of our check in experience was the amazing professionalism and kindness of Effie!!! She made us feel like we would always come back here! Thank you, Effie!!

More like a Motel 6 experience at close to $500/night for a basic room. But no, actually, we would have had a working air conditioner and a window that opened at Motel 6! A washcloth dipped in a bucket of ice throughout the night took the edge off a room that was no cooler than 76 degrees. Even the two maintenance men shrugged their shoulders and said it’s an old HVAC system. The Desk Clerks ignored us (the only people left) at check-in w/o acknowledgment until I finally asked after waiting patiently for 5 minutes if we could please check in. They didn’t pick up the phones in the evening forcing me to go down in my robe only to find them standing around chatting. Don’t bother eating there. Food was over-priced and tasteless. $90 for two room service cheese pizzas that perfectly exemplified the term Cardboard Pizza! For your $50/day resort fee you’ll share the pool and locker room with their 1600 private club members. Don’t even bother on the weekend! But I do have one nice thing to say. The towels were especially soft.
