The Claremont Hotel Club & Spa in Berkeley, California

Views of San Francisco Bay and the city skyline are killer at the Claremont Hotel Club & Spa. That might be why the property was so appealing to a Kansas farmer who struck it rich during the Gold Rush and built an elaborate English castle for his wife. After a fire destroyed the castle the land changed hands, and was allegedly won by a developer in a game of checkers. When the Claremont opened in 1915, it housed a radio station and private school. Today, its architecture gives the resort a timeless sense of grandiosity.

Dive into one of the resort's lap pools to get your blood flowing. Recline under a blue umbrella on a poolside lounger while a waiter serves a seared Ahi tuna niçoise salad for lunch. Take an afternoon drive to downtown Berkeley, checking out the shops on Fourth Street on the way to Berkeley Marina. Sip chardonnay as the Golden Gate Bridge twinkles in the setting sun.

Luxury hotel which you can enjoy a honeymoon or romantic trip . I strongly recommended for couples but I think families with children will enjoy , too. It has all you need a swimming pool , golf and gym. Also, it has a spa and some shopping stores.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Wonderful bathtub with nice soap and shampoo. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. We did not dine here so I’m not sure what the dining experience is like. It appeared costly to dine in. The only thing I found to be a problem is the self parking was limited. I’m not a fan of valet parking, I prefer to park my own car.

All I can say is this is a AAAAAAAA++++ resort. We had the best time ever. Felt like we were in a Winter Wonderland - like dreams do come true. Every host/hostess and person from the greeting to the valet to the Child Center and Spa where exceptional. !!!! Definitely would love to come back here anytime. I would recommend this with shinning brilliant stars. !!!!!!

Wonderful off the beat 5-star type property with golf, tennis and spa. You feel like you're in a Great Gatsby style setting with wonderful staff, service and amenities. The spa is a full facility with all the services for him and her and the property is totally secluded with several restaurants and activities for all the family and kids. Safe and secure

i stayed on the 4th floor which reeked of Gumbo from the kitchen below. My window faced industrial pipes and a wall and the room did not appear to be well-renovated.The shower did not get hot enough. I would not recommend this hotel which I payed $378 for one night.
