Claremont Resort & Club

This is an incredible place to stay. Everyone who works there is super professional and they take great care of their guests. Everything from the reservation experience to check out was seamless.

Visited the resort and dined with friends before the Cal Berkeley game. Tisha Kimball (sales director) was able to give me a tour of different spaces. I plan weddings and events so this was a perfect way to see options for clients. She was very knowledgeable and gave a super positive impression. Tisha was personable and made recommendations leading to a most memorable time with friends that same day. We dined and had drinks at Limewood. Chef Joseph was amazing, he came to our table and was super hospitable. All staff and service was impressive. The food was great! We enjoyed our time so much we were late to the game. Looking forward to returning and staying at the resort soon.

I was really excited to spend at night at this historic property. Its location is ideal for exploring Berkeley and the views from the property to the bay are stunning. I was underwhelmed, unfortunately. As we walked up to the property after self parking, not a single valet person welcomed or acknowledged our family, not a hello and no opening of the front doors. During check in, the front desk staff was kind but seeing we were a family of four who had booked a room with two queen beds we weren't offered an upgrade, which would have been nice to know if that was an option. We returned to our car to grab our bags and again, with my two sons carrying their own bags the valet staff didn't say anything to us, offer to help with our bags or open the door. When we arrived in our room, we were overlooking the HVAC and the room felt small. Though the space was pretty, it would have been more comfortable for just two guests. The grounds are beautiful and my sons enjoyed the pool. We also had a lovely experience in the restaurant, where after getting seated at a small dark table for two while getting a treat with my son, our server moved us to a bright, larger booth with views of the kitchen. She was delightful and was the best service experience we had. The little coffee bar in the hotel was also great for a quick and easy breakfast. Overall, had the service experience been better it would have improved our stay immensely.

I travel often for work, and while the schedules can be hectic and the days long, every stay at the Claremont reminds me why I keep coming back. It isn’t just the view, the charm, or the history — it’s the people. And Effie is at the heart of it. From the moment I arrived, Effie welcomed me with such genuine warmth that I felt less like a guest and more like family returning home. Her handwritten note, her thoughtfulness, and the way she remembers the small details — these are gestures you can’t train; they come from someone who truly cares. Effie is grace, kindness, and hospitality personified. She brings a level of heart and attentiveness that elevates the entire experience. In a world where customer service can feel rushed or scripted, Effie stands out as an example of what exceptional hospitality really looks like. To the entire Claremont team: thank you for consistently creating such a comforting, cozy space for travelers like me. But to Effie especially — thank you for making every stay feel personal, warm, and unforgettable. The hotel is lucky to have you, and so am I. We stayed at the Claremont on a visit from NYC to the Bay Area for my nephew’s wedding, which was in Piedmont. We had a lovely stay - the rooms were clean and spacious, the breakfasts/brunches were yummy and the pool — especially in November — was delightful! Effie, who checked us in and assisted us with a few additional requests, was very helpful and made us feel like VIPs. Whenever we need a place to stay in the East Bay, the Claremont will be at the top of our list!
