I am really satisfied about my stay in the Mandala hotel. The hotel staff was really nice. Besides, everything was clean and of good quality. In conclusion, I would definetely recommend this hotel to other people.

The title says all. We spent days to decide to pick this hotel for our 5-day stays, from the rave reviews from others, and their recommendation to pick a Management Suite. But, it turned out all wrong when we arrived at the hotel due to the room manger and the unwelcoming staff at the lobby. Long story short, if your room doesn't face Sony Center(north), expect to see the office workers staring at your windows in the side streets. Choose the other 2 hotels right North of Potsdamer Platz station as they offer better views and better hospitality. __________________ (No Welcoming-Poor Staff behaviors) When we arrived by taxi, I realized the front of the building was filled with stores, and, the entrance was really small. Then, there was this young brown-suited guy who almost acted as if he would come out and greet or help us, but, NEITHER. He fumbled and acted strange. We had to drag all 4 pieces of luggage and held the narrow glass door fighting to get in, as the other door was blocked by the said male staff. No HELP from the others either. Exactly there were 4 male and female staff behind the doors, nobody came out to hold the door, although it was only 4-5 steps away from their desk. When I asked about the well-appointed room, for our 5-night long stay, the room manager at the check-in desk insisted showing us 2 rooms. He was very excited, and, I had no idea what he was trying to do to upset us. (Manipulative room manager) First, the manager showed us the poorly appointed management Suite room, further SW of the corridor, facing the office building across the side street, and, when we entered, I cannot forget the scene. 5 female office workers in the next building were staring at us entering the room. one of them was eating donuts, and 2 others, spreading their legs, in their skirts. They were as surprised as we were. I was blushing right away, but, the manager pretended how great the room was. I refuse to take it as we had to draw the curtains block the light of the entire West side of the room. Although we requested a better-located suit, or, show us a regular or deluxe room facing the Main street/Sony Center, as we were well aware that the hotel still had these rooms available (only less than 2/3 % booked), the room manager would not respond to our requests again, and, again, and would only show this other Executive suite, without disclosing its price difference, and, refusing to show any other room types. And, we requested if the manager would find another manager suite to move us even on our 2nd or 3rd day, after staying in that horrible room, but, he would turn mute, again. He told us all the manager suites were facing the side street. (some things are not to be said) "Hey, what do you expect? You are in Berlin. All the big city buildings are facing each other, you know." On the way to the Elevator, he then, told me there are some manager suites, facing the narrow courtyard. But, he was reluctant. And, he was not showing one anyway. Back at the lobby, I refused to check in. We instead called our hotel booking company, in the corner of the narrow lobby seating area, and while we were on the speaker phone, we were interrupted by the first strange male staff at the glass entrance door, who stumbled over to the floor, in our sight, by meaninglessly twisting the ottoman stool across us, 1 inch each time 2-3 times. He tried to check what we were doing. It was really bizarre. We arrived as the committed paid guests. We should be thanked for choosing their hotel and welcomed, but, this room manager had a different idea and tried to manipulate us. As we felt scrutinized by this manager, we couldn't stand that type of strange behaviors and manipulation for the next 5 days, and called the booking agency to move us to another hotel across the street, and, all these ugly details were reported to the actual hotel manager, while we were staying at the wonderful hotel, better located on the opposite side close to Potsdamer Platz corner, and the hotel service and staff were far nicer than this hotel staff. We almost missed our reservation of the afternoon tour, due to this hotel change, but, walking out of Mandala hotel was the best thing ever we did, and, the other hotel happens to be the best experience of Berlin, for the better. _________________ For other travelers, (Apartment conversion : narrow small lobby) This hotel was formerly a condo apartment building. And, now it is a boutique hotel. One thing I instantly felt deceived entering the hotel was the narrow hotel lobby space and the shabby look at elevator hall at each level. Because it was converted from a condo building to this current hotel, it shows the strange scales of rather large, hollow elevator hall each level, but the utterly tight ground level lobby space makes the 1st impression negative in our case. (Privacy Issue : exposed to the office workers) The management suite or executive rooms are well-decorated with the divider. But, living in USA, I was not impressed as they are typical for Las Vegas hotel rooms. The glass wall facing the office building so close by is still the serious privacy issue. The other hotel we stayed on the Sony Center side is appointed much better, and close to the subway-RE trains, Restaurants in and around the hotels, closer to the department store to the East, a stone's throw to Tiergarten access (1 min), The Holocaust Memorial site (5 min), and Brandenburg Gate (7 min). The other hotel's hospitality was top-class, and GENUINE, welcoming us every morning and night. We felt so pampered with their hospitality. And, we told them we were so glad we refused to stay at Mandala hotel. I hope Mandala hotel to treat the next guests better. But, I don't think it is a match to the other one, to be honest.

Located right next door to the subway at Potsdam Platz, this is a lovely boutique hotel with a Michelin star restaurant. We did not try it but the same room is used for breakfast buffet, which is excellent. We booked a suite and it was very large but the first was located next door to the elevator shaft used for trolleys and cleaning staff etc. There was ongoing thumping and clanking. They moved us with little fuss. Overall, would highly recommend. Be aware the bar lounge area is quite small. We stayed 6 nights.

hotel is very centrally located in walking distance to Potsdamer Platz, Brandenburger Tor and Unter den Linden shopping / museums districts. Parking is offered below the hotel at an extra fee (20 EUR). The rooms are nice and spacious. TV program is targeted to German travellers with only a small selection of international (mostly news) channels. The service staff is not very helpful. When we arrived at the hotel with our car and asked the front desk staff where to park, they gave us only very vague directions to their underground parking garage. One other major draw back is their breakfast arrangement. We had breakfast included for our 2 nights stay. But at the first morning when we arrived for breakfast there was already a queue and we were asked to wait for 15 minutes to be then led in a side room (not the actual breakfast room). The second morning it was even worse. When we arrive at 9 am again (1 hour before breakfast closing) they asked us to go back to our room and wait for them to call us when the queue clear up and a table becomes available. This was clearly not acceptable for this kind of hotel. It seems that if the hotel if fully occupied they do not have sufficient breakfast places available to serve their guests during the morning peak hours. The staff tried to be friendly but it was clear that the situation was very frustrating for all guests and staff alike.
