The Mandala Hotel

Second time visiting Berlin and second time staying at The Mandala Hotel. First time was ten years ago. Same excellent experience this time. With our son this time. He was in a Studio Suite, we were in an Executive Suite. Both very spacious for their categories.

We were incredibly impressed by The Mandala Hotel in Potsdamer Platz. It was superior quality all the way but was not pompous or showy. Our suite, which was a corner suite, was large, had a kitchenette, a workspace and a separate bedroom (with very comfortable beds). Our son had a more basic room but that was also very comfortable and had a workspace and sitting area. The breakfast was magnificent; a beautiful array of rolls (broetchen), jams, cheese, meats, fruit and muesli. You could also order eggs of any style. Make sure you get the package with breakfast included! The restaurant on the 1st floor makes excellent cocktails and wonderful tapas. The location was perfect. We were right next to the Christmas Market and all the key attractions were close by (walking distance or within a few stops on the bus or subway). We travel a lot, internationally, and this is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in at this price range for a while. We would definitely stay there again.

We've just returned from a 3 night trip to the Mandala to explore Berlin and the Christmas markets. This hotel was fantastic!! We checked in late without any issues and stayed in an executive suite on the 10th floor facing the courtyard. Although there wasn't much view, it was bright and airy as we were so high up. The room was immaculate, loads of space, loads of storage space and a huge bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The pillows were soft feather filling which were perfect for us but might be worth requesting a firmer pillow if you prefer that. We didn't hear anybody or anything when in the room, it was so quiet and away from the elevator. The room was just amazing and we were very satisfied considering the price. The only 'negative' - if you can even call it that, was the room was too hot. As there are no individual heating controls, we had to sleep with the sliding door open which was fine as we were 10 floors up and I preferred the fresh air but others might not like that - especially on a lower floor room. Reception was great. They brought up spare toiletries when requested, and a brand new hairdryer when ours seemed to overheat. They also loaned us an adapter - which we forgot to pack. Just great service. Our best part though was Qui Bar - amazing service and wonderful ambiance. A huge shout out to Conrad (probably the best maitre'd in Berlin) and Umar, a great bartender who served up just what I wanted without it being on the menu. Having spent 2 evenings in the bar, we can honestly say, Conrad made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He took the time to talk to us, get to know us and provided an impeccable service. Conrad is an asset to the Mandala and I hope the hierarchy know how valuable he is. Overall, amazing hotel in the best location - very central... we love our 5 star hotels and at a fraction of the cost compared to others in Berlin, I was a little sceptical, but absolutely overjoyed we paid almost half the cost of other high end hotels but received the same standard and service we were expecting. Thank you Mandala... you made our trip... we'll definitely be back - Lesley and Paul xx

Room was very comfy and strikingly quiet given proximity to Potsdamer Platz. Ideal for Philharmonie, bus stop at the door step and S- and U- station a few hundred yards away.

The Mandala totally exceeded my expectations! From the delightful staff to the details in the room, I felt like I was home (but better!) The beds were extremely comfortable as were the pillows. The food! Delicious!!! Conrad and Umer in QIU really shined. Their passion for their jobs did not go unnoticed. Loved chatting with them. Also had the opportunity to meet Lutz the owner. The love he shows for his hotel is evident in everything he does. I also stayed at another hotel across the street; it didn't hold a candle to The Mandala. I would stay nowhere else when I return to Berlin.
