Room booked not received
A beautiful place, we were immediately placed in room we didn’t book, we were told it was an upgrade but it was not. The Pacific House was what we booked, we were placed in something similar but not that one…very little hot water in the shower. Food was not on par. Charred too much, too many ingredients in some dishes. A couple nice starters. Artichoke and Crudo. Massages were good. Outside ones were loud due to wind (flapping curtains & crowing crows.) some may enjoy, for others it may be too loud. The bell staff & housekeeping staff were amazing. Be sure to check your reservation ahead of time.

Want a haunting house? Go to Alila Big Sur
It’s more than terrible experience, the ac in our room is keeping sending noise constantly, the cracking sound makes us have to wear ear plugs every minute in the room. Raining makes the hotel more like haunting house than a resort. Can’t tell it’s a Christmas or a Halloween. Worst ever experience and won’t recommend to any friends.

Well Worth It
Traveled to Big Sur for an anniversary getaway and so glad we chose to stay at the Alila Ventana Big Sur. It was a perfect, relaxing, enjoyable experience that we certainly hope to replicate in the future. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Food was delicious. The location and the views were amazing. Highly recommend.

Despicable behavior
The valet driver crashed our rental car and damaged the front fender. They didn’t even bother to tell us. We didn’t notice until we stopped for gas. The hotel later refused to take responsibility. So much for 5 star experience.

Poor customer service and food experience
I got sick eating at the restaurant, provided dietary restrictions, had it confirmed several times. I couldn't sleep and almost went to hospital.l by the pain. Celiac. I ordered breakfast the next day, again order had gluten. 3rd time delivery took 1.5 hours with ETA 30 mins and came with many items missing. I didnt enjoy my stay as I got sick because of the dietary restrictions not being followed by staff.

Ventana was the perfect spot...this resort is easily one of the most romantic places in Big Sur. The on-site spa is relaxing and comforting - everyone is knowledgeable, skilled and highly professional. Ventana is luxurious, romantic and fun. We'll be back!
