Alila Ventana Big Sur

The property itself is absolutely beautiful and incredibly peaceful, and there were several aspects of our stay that we really enjoyed. The food was excellent, and the service at the restaurant was amazing. We had just returned from our wedding celebration in Spain, and with it being my partner’s birthday, we decided at the last minute to spend a night at Alila Ventana Big Sur. Rooms were running close to $3,000 for the night, but we were fortunate to book using 65,000 World of Hyatt points. Given the caliber and price point of the property, as well as my Globalist status with World of Hyatt, I was disappointed with the overall recognition and service surrounding our stay. My Globalist status was never acknowledged at check-in. We did receive an upgrade to a room with a fireplace, which we appreciated. I completely understand that suite upgrades are not guaranteed; however, since we were only staying one night and suites were showing as available when we booked that morning and oddly were even priced lower than some standard rooms. I was a little surprised that a suite upgrade was not offered. The biggest disappointment, however, was the late checkout policy. I was surprised to learn that this property does not honor the 4:00 PM late checkout benefit normally associated with Globalist status. Standard checkout was 11:00 AM, and after quite a bit of back and forth with the concierge, we were only granted an additional hour until noon. For a one-night stay at a property commanding nearly $3,000 per night, having to leave by noon significantly limited the amount of time we could actually enjoy the resort. Overall, Alila Ventana Big Sur is a stunning property with an incredible setting, excellent food, and wonderful restaurant service. However, for a hotel positioned at this level within the Hyatt portfolio, I expected a more elevated experience when it came to service, recognition of elite status, and flexibility. At 65,000 points or nearly $3,000 for a single night, those details make a meaningful difference in whether the experience feels worth the premium.

The BEST couples trip! Everything is truly 10/10 - the food, the lovely staff, the rooms, the grounds and every corner of the property. It's one of those trips we talk about all the time and can't wait to go back.

Finding the right venue for a small, intimate wedding can be a challenge, but this place was absolute perfection. Atmosphere & Charm: From the moment we arrived, the property felt like a peaceful retreat. It has a quiet, enchanting beauty tucked away in every corner that created the most romantic backdrop for our ceremony and photos. Thoughtful Details: You can tell how much genuine care goes into the space. The grounds are meticulously kept, revealing hidden little pockets of charm that made the whole day feel magical and private. Exceptional Staff: What truly stood out was the team. They didn't just look after us and our guests with incredible warmth and attention—they genuinely cared for the property itself. That level of pride and devotion made a huge difference in our experience. If you are looking for a intimate, beautiful setting where you and your guests will feel truly taken care of, this is the place. We couldn't have asked for a better spot to celebrate our big day!

The Alila Big Sur was an excellent experience. We were there to celebrate my 70th Birthday. This was just what we expected. Took 24 hours to get adjusted from the real world challenges and into the Alila mind frame. After an excellent massage and fantastic hike, things settled in and we got into the mood. Would go again.

Had a great time celebrating our anniversary there. Attentive staff, amazing food, and overall very relaxing experience and good weekend getaway.
