Not the greatest of experiences

My partner and I stayed at this hotel at the weekend. He had asked for a parking space and they said that it probably wouldn’t be a problem. Anyway, we eventually get there, after a nightmare journey of actually getting to the street the hotel is on! There is a guy outside the hotel and we ask where we can park, there was one space which was rather difficult to get into (had to reverse over kerbs to get into it). We were also told that the car park park land did not belong to the hotel, this was not mentioned when booking. The next day we were parked in, people just parked their car where they wanted and obviously because the hotel don’t own the land they have no idea who the cars belong to, luckily we were not parked in for too long, however it should not have happened in the first place. We decided to eat in the hotel bar after watching a concert elsewhere, (the restaurant was closed), this was around 8.15pm – I thought this was rather early and it would have been nice to have a decent meal rather than just bar food and to sit down properly. I decided to have a burger, wow, it had blood coming out of it, I sent it back, when I eventually received a replacement it still wasn’t great, not as red but it wasn’t nice, came with skinny chips and homemade slaw which I didn’t taste. For the price it was not worth it ie £23. My partner had a pizza and I had a slice of it whilst waiting for my replacement burger, I wasn’t impressed with that either to be honest, I can’t remember the price of that. The room was nice, bathroom tired and needing some TLC. Nice big bed but a bit soft for us. The people next door were so loud, shouting a lot. After we had had our meal we stayed in the bar and moved to seats which were a bit more comfortable, a bit later on all kinds of people were coming into the hotel and I am not even sure if any of them were guests, it was a bit like a nightclub and not nice at all. I will say however that the staff in the bar were very polite and even gave us a couple of drinks to say sorry for the burger situation, I thought that was very nice. Apart from all of the above I would not stay at this hotel again, the car park is a nightmare and I think you should be informed when you book that you might actually get parked in and they have no idea who the cars belong to – ridiculous.

Great location and value

I was travelining alone for work, but thoroughly enjoyed my quick stay in Birmingham. The hotel is super convenient for my business meeting as well as access to the canal area for dinnner and my morning walk. It was quiet, too. The only reason my sleep was avergae was becasue the room was quite warm, and the cooling system did not seem to work.
