Montage facilities never disappoint. Palmetto Bluff is such a beautiful facility I only wish I had a few more days to add to this wonderful experience. Riding bikes around the grounds and along the waterways was so fun. Dining and wait staff were all attentive and pleasant. Highly recommended

The Montage is located in a vast community called Palmetto Bluff which is tranquil and absolutely stunning. It's a place that should be seen at least once in a lifetime. The setting of the resort itself is no less spectacular. That said, anyone visiting should be well aware of one significant issue in advance. Mainly the hotel is "pet friendly" which seems to appeal to a large clientele of dog owners. If you are one, I mean no offense but for those who appreciate accommodations that do not smell like wet dog, I would stay away. The issue is compounded by the misguided decision to carpet the vast majority of rooms. I have included some pictures evidencing the tenancy of the animals over the years but unfortunately I cannot include the sensation of smell in my review. You will note that the stains in the carpet are partially masked by the rug pattern that was likely selected to hide the animal excrement that it has endured over the eight years since the rooms were built. Trust that, in person, the stains are plentiful. Also note, that the pictured carpet had undergone the hotel’s “deep cleaning” service which I will get to in a moment. And finally note that the photo of chewed wooden legs are from two separate rooms. My sinuses went into overdrive and ruined all ten days of an extended trip in the area and beyond. I will also note that I STRONGLY suspect there had been cats in the room at some point due to the explosive reaction I suffered. I pleaded with management to find us a room that was at least carpet free. Due to the occupancy of the hotel there was only one room offered and it faced a pool that was just feet away (all the guests in that area kept the shades drawn even during the day due to non-existent privacy). We were paying over $1,000 per night and did not want to settle but perhaps this would have been a better option (our only mistake). It started to feel like the hotel may have had at least a modest number of other options but one of the managers suggested that what was available would have been too significant of an upgrade. The same manager actually asked “have we done anything wrong?” and “the website says we are pet friendly and there are pictures of carpet there as well.” Maybe I should have been an investigative reporter and made note of these things? Anyway, after progressing through three levels of management, we were finally upgraded to a carpet-free cottage on our 3rd day of a 5 night stay (I recommend booking a cottage if you do decide to visit and don’t mind paying the huge premium). The carpeted rooms are truly disgusting and no amount of the hotel's "deep cleaning" service can nullify the allergens or smell accumulated over years of “pet friendly” accommodation. In fairness and objectivity I have given the hotel 3 stars for two reasons. The grounds and area are fabulous and the pet policy may appeal to those that actually want to travel with pets. That said, benefit from my VERY unfortunate experience and STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE ANY LEVEL OF ALLERGY OR SIMPLY DON’T WANT TO LIVE WHERE DOG AND PERHAPS OTHER ANIMALS HAVE BEEN TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS FOR YEARS.

10 out of 10 can’t wait to go back. The service and staff was very accommodating. Food was worth the cost

What a wonderful experience we had at this charming , expansive, and natural beauty of an estate. Don’t believe the disparagers - they’re incorrect. Just visit this place.

My children(25 & 27) and I had an amazing time at the Montage we were there for a wedding but were able to enjoy the resort too. Bikes, Horseback riding, swimming and dining were all fabulous.
