We liked pretty much all aspects of our stay here. Our room was very quiet and comfortable, nicely furnished with a balcony overlooking the water. The buildings are of good construction quality (though the aluminum window frames felt a bit cheap). The grounds are beautiful and make for really nice walks/runs and bike rides. They have a couple of nice pools and a good gym (use the one by the river house, not the on in the main building).

I love Palmetto Bluff really I could live there if I had the money the staff was amazing as a fan of 1/64 scale NASCAR diecasts I brought my Cars and the staff trued their hardest to not move them from the floor during a stop motion race I was working on and the food is really good I love this place

Montage Palmetto Bluff is a quiet, self-contained complex of private homes and cottages on the banks of the May River several miles from Bluffton. Everything looks like it was developed within the last two decades under strict design guidelines. Handsome wood buildings (though a bit lacking in variety) and gorgeous landscaping. We stayed in a spacious, very comfortable room with balcony overlooking the pool and pond. We were there for a large wedding, where the service, food, drink and venues were wonderful ... so I can't offer an opinion on the quality of the resort's bars, restaurants and menus. Wedding guests said they liked the golf course. The chapel where the wedding ceremony was held was very, very pretty. By no means a bargain, Montage is well-suited for a high-end vacation, corporate or golf retreat ... or tasteful, no-expense-spared wedding.

So, we have been here six times in the last three years, both before and since the overwhelming expansion. We are sorry to say that this time may very well be our last. While it is still very good, this is not the place we fell in love with, prior to the Inn and all of the new changes in how they do business. First, the good: The cottages offer a peaceful retreat, away from the rest of the world, and with a river view, you can focus on the breathtaking views and serenity from the porch. The staff that remains like Chaibo, Dave, and Tony at the front door are the same friendly smiling faces that make you truly feel like you are coming home. Pat, the Concierge is beyond amazing with her warmth, knowledge, and patience. Buffaloes, while much more crowded than we remember, still has Clyde, Noel, and Leroy and the others, all familiar faces taking care of your every need. Even the Canoe Club is exactly how we remembered it, with great food and exceptional service. And the ride in from the main road is just spectacular. Now, the changes. Obviously with growth and progress comes some change, and not all for the good. The front desk staff is impersonal and almost robotic. When we checked out, we had a $1800 catering charge for one night, for a party of two. Common sense would dictate that it surely has to be a mistake..but they handed it over like it was no big deal. Maybe not to them, but to us it was! As others mentioned, the $40 resort fee is not really well defined. We opted for the Montage Memory package, which included use of bikes and valet parking. Previously, we had a golf cart, morning newspaper delivered to the door, and soft drinks in the fridge and a bottle of wine. Now the fridge contains lots of alcohol and $5 cans of coke. Even the DVD player was taken away. Prices at all the outlets have jumped, but that is to be expected. The crowds, however, are the main issue. The quaint, peaceful retreat is now a bustling resort. As long as you know that going in, you will enjoy your stay. We will be looking for a quieter, more personal experience elsewhere.

We stayed here for one night as we drove through the Carolinas and loved this place! The rooms are very comfortable, the service impeccable and the amenities amazing. We wanted to stay for a week. There is so much to do. It seems perfect for couples, families and people who want to get away in luxury,
