Montage Palmetto Bluff

Village Home 23 was not well maintained. I had a terrible allergic reaction. I called and emailed the hotel manager Jon McGaunn on or about September 9th. He didn't respond until September 23rd. Alleging that they conducted air quality tests but refusing to provide reports. The home wasn't clean, the fireplaces and fire pit did not work (bummer for kids wanting s'mores--they only offer them at the main hotel until 9pm). There were several things that went wrong during our stay: wasp nest on front steps (after notifying the hotel about 3 times they finally sent someone and he did nothing helpful), housekeeping re-made visibly soiled sheets, the golf carts we reserved weren't delivered as promised and when they were delivered one had a faulty parking brake. Just not up to the caliber you purport to be. I didn't want the credit for one night, I wanted to have a nice, clean stay with my family. I do NOT recommend this property and specifically NOT this home. It is poorly maintained. Management is atrocious. Who waits almost 2 weeks to respond to a guest who needed medical attention after staying at their property? The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is because the guys at the shooting club were great, the hibachi sunset cruise was great. Basically all things NOT Montage but offered there are great.

Beautiful drive to the resort. Once you are here the servers at the restaurant not so great! Cleaning service comes at different times each day. The day I was supposed to check out while eating breakfast they checked me out of the room without notice at 9am. I then had to call the front desk to have them open the door. For a 5 star hotel I expect better service. I definitely will not come back here. The breakfast and dinner at Octagon is not worth it.

This was our 3rd trip to Palmetto Bluff and I’m sad to say I won’t be back. I was so disappointed in the changes in quality and service that has kept us coming back. Loud jackhammering at the pool each day, coupled with no accommodation to service drinks or food at the other pool location, make it impossible to spend the days at the pool. It was hot so this was a real pity. The first room we had smelled horribly of mold and had a major insect issue. The wall paint and carpet were dingy and patched up terribly. They changed our room, which I appreciated, however the steamer in the shower was broken. This was one thing my husband had always loved about the cottages. The rooms need some care, attention and maintenance. The most disappointing part of our stay was the constant closure of bars and restaurants for private events. We didn’t get to experience the speak easy, and the social hour bar was suddenly closed, the canoe club was closed- yet none of the staff seemed to know about the closures, so they sent us places only for us to find them locked up and closed to guests. So frustrating. We were sad to see the changes at the property but unfortunately the value just isn’t there for the price.

Beautiful property. Service was excellent. Room was a Lagoon Suite that was very nice. Bed was AWFUL. Like sleeping on a board. Pillows offered no support for head and neck. Overall Value? Did not meet expectations for the amount of money we spent.

The property and rooms are so stunning that this place felt like something out of a dream. There’s so much attention to detail and my girlfriends and I left feeling like we just spent the weekend at the most pampering summer camp in the world.
