Stayed at the Inn for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The property was beautiful and well-maintained. The staff was top notch everywhere we went--front desk, pool, tennis courts, and Buffalo's. The golf cart drivers were friendly too, though they drove a bit too fast for my taste. We enjoyed the little extras, such as the s'mores by the fire pit. I would highly recommend this place!

My mom and I celebrated milestone birthdays in May, and she treated us to 3 nights at this wonderful resort. The resort has top-notch facilities; the beauty and charm of the property is jaw-dropping. I was at peace sitting outside on the front porch or by one of the many bonfire pits admiring the moss covered trees and the tranquility of the May River; I loved walking around observing the gorgeous architecture of the property and the homes that are adjacent to it. Our room was in the Main Inn and was incredibly spacious, well decorated and offered nice amenities. The resort is spread out, but there golf carts that can shuttle you around or you can rent bikes if you don't want to walk everywhere. The concierges (esp Pat) were very helpful in recommending activities and restaurants on & off property. Our 3 night package included breakfast at Jessamine in the Main Inn daily. Although the food was good, the service was incredibly slow (and it wasn't crowded at all--the front desk agent said the resort was only 50% occupied that weekend). Breakfast took anywhere from 60-90 mins each day, and we weren't ordering complicated foods. Similarly, my mom and I ordered a burger & fries to split in the Octagon Bar on a Thurs night, and it wasn't cooked as we had specified and it took an incredibly long time to receive just one entree (that we had to send back for them to cook for longer). We had much better service, great food and a lovely view during Friday lunch at Buffalo's. Our sandwiches were HUGE (we should have split one) and were very tasty. They also served very large glasses of iced tea. The service was also much faster and friendlier at Buffalo's! Through the fitness center, I took the outdoor bootcamp class, which provided a superb workout. The instructor (Joli) was so personable, fun, and knowledgeable. We moved all around the property while doing our squats, lunches, etc. The fitness center is also bright with natural sunlight and has top notch equipment. The cardio machines have a lovely view facing the pool, and you can walk right out to the pool from the fitness center via the large glass doors. Although we loved our weekend, it was very expensive and the costs add up quickly. There is a resort fee and several taxes on top of your room rate. Plus if you drive to the property, there is no self-parking option, so you have to pay $25/night for valet-and your car sits in an uncovered lot. I am not a big fan of charging for overnight parking when there is no other option to choose. Food expenses can add up quickly, esp if you take all your meals on property (the town of Bluffton is cute and is only 10-15 mins away if you want more options). Overall, it's a very charming and peaceful property where you can be as active as you want. I hope the service will improve in the restaurants and that they'll reconsider the parking fee. I definitely would like to go back but likely for a very special occasion.

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend on our anniversary. At the outset, it is a splendid property which feels special. All of the facilities are first class and the service was exceptional. It is expensive, but if you are willing to accept that fact, it is a treat. We stayed in the Inn. Our room was nice with plenty of space. The room and bathroom were exactly as depicted in the many photographs on this site. The balcony was nice and sizable. We enjoyed overlooking the spa pool on our balcony. The bathroom was large and had plenty of space. One interesting detail was you could pipe in sound from the TV into the bathroom. Just thought that was cool. The property in spread out. If feels like a small southern town which it is actually. We rented bikes to get around and enjoyed it even with the July heat. When we did not ride bikes, we took the cart shuttle to points on the property or walked. The pool was wonderful and we were able to have a cabana which made all the difference on a hot July day. If a cabana is open, be sure to request one. The dining and drinks were wonderful. We had dinner at Canoe Club and enjoyed ourselves. Food was very good. Drinks were good. It seemed as if every bar had its own specialty. We enjoyed the River House and the Octagon Bar in the Inn. Be sure to try the Artillery Punch. It is a Savannah drink and they put their own special spin on it. Never had one that was better. Overall the service was exceptional and personable. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. My only caution is costs rise quickly. It is an expensive place, but is also first class. We do hope to go again.

My husband and I visited here six years ago. We decided to go back this summer and take the kids. We were just as impressed if not more this time. We rented a three bedroom home and loved it. We were able to have space for all of us and still have the amenities that come with a hotel, like housekeeping. The new Montage Inn is beautiful. The kids loved the pool and we loved the pool side drinks and service. The treehouses where a big hit and we were so impressed with the shooting and archery range. We will continue to visit this little corner of the world we have found. I highly recommend to anyone!

My husband recently surprised me with a trip to Palmetto Bluff which was a trip we had planned to take as a "mini-moon" last year as newlyweds. Unfortunately, Hurricane Matthew made that impossible as the resort had to close (and we had to move our wedding at the last minute) but, based on information from the staff, it could have been a much worse outcome here. This trip was essentially our mini-moon 2.0 (celebrated 9 months later) and it was perfect in every single way. This is a luxury resort and they really have made it a Low Country oasis. We had a room with a balcony and view of the lagoon which was very private but close enough to the pool and main hotel that it was convenient. I can't rave enough on the decor and high quality finishes of this resort. Everything is spread out which doesn't matter much since there are golf carts that will take you anywhere you want to go but it may take a bit longer to get there. Bluffton is a bit far so if you are needing a change of scenery during a longer stay, you'll need to plan how to get there. I believe the cottages may come with bikes - otherwise you have to rent them which you ABSOLUTELY should do as the property is very expansive and you would miss out on seeing quite a bit of it. Despite the fact that it was June, there weren't too many mosquitoes and the pool was fairly quiet which was nice. There are 2 pools near the main hotel and we enjoyed a beverage at the pool bar. Spending time in the spa is another must - you can access the sauna, steam and jacuzzi as a hotel guest but the spa treatment (detox wrap) was perfect! S'mores are available nightly and afternoon treats are also served. You'll want to schedule tee times, boat trips and horseback riding in advance depending on the season but we wanted a quieter trip so we will experience some of those things next time (we have already decided this is an annual trip). We didn't golf May River this time but, according to my husband, it is a great course. The only TINY comment is that some of the staff weren't as knowledgeable but it was easy to overlook. I could go on and on about how perfect this was...but you should really check it out for yourself!
