Reviews for Montage Palmetto Bluff
My wife and I️ visited Palmetto Bluff for our anniversary and it was excellent! After checking in, we asked if a different room was available and they were very accommodating - even though they were nearly sold out. We loved our room and the gas fireplace was a bonus for this time of year. We played golf at the course (May River- great course), ate dinner at all the restaurants ( the food was delicious!), and had an A+ massages at the spa. Truly a beautiful resort with top class service. Our only suggestions for Palmetto Bluff are to provide shuttle service to Cole’s - my wife and I️ were stranded at Coles after taking a beautiful 3 mile walk through the forest. A shuttle service would be highly recommended! We also recommend that on certain areas where you park your bike, there is a little plaque that kindly says “please check your number before taking a bike.” My wife’s bike was taken by mistake within 10 minutes of rental. Two simple suggestions. We will most definitely return. With southern charm and hospitality, the staff could not have been more kind. Even during a large event, we got personal attention.

I stated at the Montage Palmetto Bluff for 1 night as I had business to do in Savannah the next day. I was very impressed with the property. I spent a lot time at Sea Island so it’s natural for me (or anyone who has stayed at both properties) to draw parallels. Both properties have beautiful accommodations, great food, world class spas, gracious staff, and a wealth of amenities. The decor is quite different - Palmetto Bluff has an elegant southern feel (love the gas lamps) while the Cloister at Sea Island has more of a grand Mediterranean feel. Sea Island has greater focus on the beach/ocean and golf, while Palmetto Bluff leans more toward activities in a wooded setting overlooking a beautiful river/marsh. Admittedly, both offer golf, water sports, fishing, shooting, and other outdoor activities but, on balance, beach lovers and avid golfers will probably prefer Sea Island while those into biking, shooting, “porching”, etc. may prefer Palmetto Bluff. Sea Island also benefits from is proximity to St. Simons while Palmetto Bluff is more of a self contained and isolated community. Both are beautiful properties and anyone looking for a relaxing retreat will thoroughly enjoy themselves at both hotels, it’s purely a function of how you want to spend your time relaxing.

This resort has the WORST service I have ever experienced. I have never felt more unwelcome and uncomfortable walking into a resort when all I wanted to do was check in and relax. We landed and got to the resort at 11AM, thinking we could check in at noon, it actually took over 3 hours to get our room ready. I was there for a wedding and we had to be somewhere at 1pm... I attended the first wedding events straight off the plane because... my room was not ready... let's talk about lack of hospitality... On top of this, I had a beating head ache now from traveling, and when we were finally in our room, post wedding welcome events, I called down to see if we could get a few more bottles of water in our room (since the two tiny bottles wasn't enough for the 3 people in my room...) the woman on the phone wanted to transfer me to in-room dinging to PAY for 3 water bottles!!! When I asked if they had 'free' water bottles and could they maybe have someone drop off water bottles, it then took them 1.5 HOURS to bring up 3 bottles of water... When we ran out of towels after showering, we didn't even bother asking for more... At this point I felt so sick and uncomfortable and unwelcome, I am sure I'll never be back. This place is FAR from accommodating and relaxing because I literally needed to BEG to be comfortable, as if $400 a night wasn't enough... I would prefer to stay in the holiday inn where they actually accommodate you (for LESS than $400 a night..), and just visit the beautiful grounds of the montage palmetto.

We spent 4 nights in one of the cottages where we enjoyed friendly service in a perfect environment. We ride through the grounds and spotted eagles, deer, alligators and dolphins to name but 4. The golf buggies which transported us around were driven by polite informed ambassadors who added to the overall experience.

The old adage, “you get what you pay for” clearly describes this location. Though considered pricey to many, the accommodations, service and delivery of all is simply amazing. Nothing compares to the beauty. We had a great meeting and the meals were delicious. Very supportive and attentive staff ready to assist you at all times. Would definitely recommend this property for both business and pleasure.
