We hadn't had a holiday for the two of us for years and this place was fantastic. The setting is wonderful, staff so friendly and helpful and the breakfast simply divine. I still wish I had had a third helping of the raspberry tart. Maybe next time as we are definitely returning. The views from the restaurant overlooking Bonnieux and the Petit Luberon are gorgeous. My only regret is that the main restaurant was closed.Another reason to return.

This was a true gem of hotel. The sitting in hill towns of Provence was just enchanting. The hotel is immaculate. Their staff just oh so friendly and helpful. Our room had a view of Bonnieux and very romantic. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant our first night and everything was impeccable. We ate elsewhere on our second night but only we were so tired from touring we were too tired for a late dinner. The breakfast was delicious. There specially made omelet to order was the best we had on any of our many trips. Probably just not enough good things to say about the hotel and restaurant except make sure your GPS is up to date as we did have a little trouble finding it the first time.

Edouard Loubet is not only a talented chef, he is as well a very hands on manager of the Bastide that really goes the extra mile with his team to please his customers. The Bastide itself is a concentrate of Provence with beautiful gardens planted with local vegetation including lavender, a beautiful fig tree and decorated with sculptures. 2 equally nice swimming pools are available one in the upper gardens and another in the lower ones. The hotel decoration reflects as well Provence spirit with a lot of lavender, linen, and white painted wood. Rooms are comfortable but the A/C is a bit noisy and the wifi does not cover the whole domain. Attention to detail is everywhere, such as tasty treats in the room for turn-down service (i think they should add free drinking water for turn-down). Very tasty breakfast buffet with a large variety of pastries, fruits, cheeses, hams, cereals etc. The unmissables : the pistachios cake, and the truffle scrambled eggs (both heavenly), truffle being very present in the 2 star restaurant menu. 2 very nice terraces offer beautiful views and great spots for outdoor breakfast or dinner. Great stay!

The hotell is on the top of the hill with excellent view over provance landscape. I walking distance you can explore the village with a big variety of restaurants cafe and culture buildings. The hotel swinging pool is excellent and have a bar.

Perhaps you've noticed that nearly one third of the ratings for this Relais & Chateau are in the categories Poor or Terrible. In this review I will try to shed some light on why this is so while defending my rating of Very Good . It's easy to understand why Edouard Loubet has two Michelin stars and was once voted chef of the year by Gault et Millau. His cooking is light and inventive with the use of locally sourced products and the many vegetables and herbs grown in his garden on the premises. The domaine is a vast provencal estate boasting lavender filled gardens and extraordinary views over the Luberon countryside. In early July we had dinner and spent one night at the Domaine to celebrate my birthday. We began our evening with the house cocktail, a champagne and truffle wine concoction which was delightful. It was served with a seemingly endless parade of tasty treats which we enjoyed while taking in the view of the Bonnieux hillside. We ordered a la carte from the summer menu and highly recommend the Petit Pois & Oignons Nouveaux Oeuf (Peas, Spring Onions & Egg) as a starter. The Fleurs de Courgette Farcies (Filled Courgette Flowers with Mexican Tarragon) were offered by the chef and would also be a superb choice for a starter. The main dishes (lamb and guinea fowl) were correct. The cheese board offers a wide range and a generous sampling is served while the Souffle Parfume au Cedre (Souffle with Cedar) was also excellent. However when great food and magnificent views are not enough to justify the high prices, factors like service and accommodation enter the equation. We stayed in the Tistet Vedene, a âChambre Luxeâ. It was spacious and comfortable. The TV didn't work but someone came quickly to get it working. The wi-fi connection was sporadic as was the phone service with our mobile carrier. We found the service very good but we can totally understand how it could easily deteriorate. The staff is young with many newly hired; the maitre d'hotel seemed stressed and could appear condescending. Some routine protocols for keeping the guests informed were missing. When we arrived for dinner we were led to a table for a pre-dinner cocktail but we were given no information about when we would move to the dining area. Similarly at breakfast we were seated in a dining area without any explanation that there was a buffet service in the adjacent room. Small details but we felt these were awkward moments. On the plus side, we have not seen many two star chefs spend as much time as Edouard Loubet did on the terrace serving and meeting with guests. One final observation: the reception area also serves as the Domaine's boutique resulting in a rather congested reception with less than adequate facilities to display the products on offer.
