About the Hotel

Located in one of Boston's oldest neighborhoods, Battery Wharf Hotel is a collection of four buildings and offers a fresh and contemporary alternative to the city's more traditional hotels. With a smaller number of rooms, the hotel is more like a boutique urban retreat, evoking a residential feel. Guest chambers are designed to make the most of the waterfront location, while high-tech amenities are there for added convenience. The hotel is home to the AAA Four-Diamond Award-winning Sensing restaurant, an epicurean experience featuring a global menu of entrées that are creatively plated and prepared. Imbibing takes place in the Lobby Living Room, which sets the stage for conversation and impromptu toasts in a lounge-like setting.

Reviews for Battery Wharf Hotel

Good location but bad service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Great location. Decent rooms. Unhelpful staff who let problems happen. The property and rooms are nice, but the staff were not attentive or concerned. I had problems with check-in, room maintenance, and check out. Overall not worth the high price.

I'm a huge fan of this hotel (through good times and bad). I was so happy to get a chance to stay again on a recent trip to Boston. Awesome location, great restaurant, front desk a bit stuffy (as usual), Valet-Khalid is just amazing. Down side is the hotel rooms have been semi-renovated. What they have done is lovely but it is only half done. Old wallpaper still remains and is looking pretty shabby,The tones are now blue but still using the old red tissue holders (cracked) in the bathrooms. Took out the mini frdges and left a blank space. Only one small waste basket in the bathroom (tiny) and none anywhere else in the room. All that being said it is a beautiful property right on the water. Lots of boat action and you can walk to the North End which is so fun. I'll be back soon.

Poor Experience; Staff Doesn't Seem to Care

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

(Email I sent to the hotel that never received a reply, which is consistent how the staff operates) I’ll share that our stay was mostly terrible. I take some responsibility for it, but I’m unclear how I was able to book this room when it can’t accommodate five people. It should have never been an option. As a family of five it’s clear when a room can’t accommodate us - there’s always a “your party exceeds max capacity” type message. So I assumed there was an extra space. When I checked in, I asked the gentleman checking me in, "so there are two beds and a pull out couch?" I was somewhat rudely told no, there are two beds. I said there are five of us. He said “well I don’t know how you’ll figure that out” basically not being helpful in any way. I asked again at the end of the check-in process and was again told the same - "it’s on you to figure that out." I left unhappy and put off. We proceed to the room and try to make it work. Next issue: the room temperature. It was way too warm our first night. I set the thermostat down to 65 but the room temp remained 74-75 degrees, much too warm especially as our 7-year old was crammed in bed with my wife and I and all the body heat made it worse. So around 1 am, I’m overheating and miserable. I take extra pillows and sleep on the floor. Beyond uncomfortable for $500/night. At 2 am, our 7 year old falls out of bed. Unexpected because she’s old enough but it still happened. Luckily she wasn’t hurt too terribly - but still banged up. That was Sunday into Monday and our stay has been lousy and memorable for the wrong reasons. Broken booking system. Unhelpful receptionist. Lousy A/C. Floor sleeping. Child falling out of bed.
