About the Hotel

Located in one of Boston's oldest neighborhoods, Battery Wharf Hotel is a collection of four buildings and offers a fresh and contemporary alternative to the city's more traditional hotels. With a smaller number of rooms, the hotel is more like a boutique urban retreat, evoking a residential feel. Guest chambers are designed to make the most of the waterfront location, while high-tech amenities are there for added convenience. The hotel is home to the AAA Four-Diamond Award-winning Sensing restaurant, an epicurean experience featuring a global menu of entrées that are creatively plated and prepared. Imbibing takes place in the Lobby Living Room, which sets the stage for conversation and impromptu toasts in a lounge-like setting.

Comfortable hotel on the Boston Harbor

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Overall a very nice hotel and a good location on the Boston harbor. We were upgraded to a Harbor View suite which was lovely. The room is very comfortable. But I’ve rarely experienced a four-star hotel in this price range, which doesn’t have a refrigerator in the room. This is disappointing to us, so we like to bring home food from restaurants and have as a snack or meal later. I asked the front desk, and they told me that management took out all the refrigerators a few years ago. Apparently, if you request them in advance, and who would know to do that, you might be able to get a refrigerator. The location is in many ways very good. An easy 10 minute walk to North End and to the middle of Freedom Trail. Any public transportation is at least a,10 to 12 minute walk away. Close to a number of very good restaurants. The hotel’s own restaurant was uninspiring. We had acceptable breakfasts there, but eggs on both occasions were served lukewarm. Overall a good choice if you like water views, and want to be in this particular neighborhood.

Mediocrity Masquerading as Upscale

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The Mattress was apparently installed upside down. Ms. Arauz was less than sympathetic to my complaint, but did offer a $100.00 refund-not sufficient for a $400 room that you cannot sleep in! Also, toilet tissue holder was not secured to the wall and coffee maker needed to be carried across the room to be used. These are some challenges with the renovation, but they should not become the customer’s burden. We were very disappointed and after several correspondences with Ms. Arauz remain disappointed. This is a mediocre hotel masquerading as a 5 star.

Boston at its best

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This hotel was already excellent and it’s even better now that it has been renovated. Everything was impeccable. Room and service and food and amenities. The location is amazing; great for a walk along the waterfront and close to some of Boston’s coolest places. Excellent restaurants at walking distance. Great overall.

Nice location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Nice location in walking distance of the North End, however, despite having paid for an "upgraded" room the room smelled heavily of cigarettes. Especially in the bathroom. Otherwise we had a nice stay and the staff was friendly.
