I would have no problems staying at this great hotel again.. Upon booking in we were provided a complimentary upgrade. The room was spacious clean, the bed super comfy and a nice hot shower. The best part of the hotel were the staff. Everyone, without exception, were super helpful and friendly. A big shout out to Norman the doorman who exemplified what the hotel was all about!, Norman was friendly, personable, had a great sense of humour and is clearly a great asset to the hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights for a sight seeing trip to Boston. The location is great and really easy to walk to everywhere from here. Initially when we checked in we found the lady on reception rather miserable, she made no conversation with us and didn't point us where to go to get the lift. Our room was on floor 10 and overlooked the main road outside and we didn't hear much road noise. However we could hear everything from the corridor which was annoying. Everyone walking past having a conversation could be heard and equally when walking down the corridor you could hear everything being said inside rooms. I was also woken up by room doors slamming shut. The room was a good size and the bed comfortable. I used the gym in the hotel which was better than most hotel gyms, and we didn't have breakfast but did have bar snacks and drinks in the bar which were good. I was disappointed that the rooftop pool was closed as it was one of the reasons why I booked this hotel. It was due to open a few weeks after our stay but I didn't know it was only open part of the year. This was a shame as it was sunny and warm at the start of our stay and we were looking forward to trying it. I feel this hotel is set up for business guests rather than those looking for a more luxurious stay. As we were leaving we spoke to the concierge who stored our bags for us and he was great and really helpful - wish we'd met him earlier in our stay (I think his name is Deneke but my spelling is off!). For the amount we paid (we managed to pick a weekend when a medical conference was on so hotels were about 4 times the normal price) I wouldn't stay here again, but if it is cheaper and the pool is open I would consider it.

Staff was excellent but The hotel is NOT a 4 star hotel. Everything is dated and showing wear. Also, weird experiences: First, I get to the last 2 bed room and it's a handicapped room that smelled funky (in probably 100 hotel stays, I've never asked to change rooms--I'm pretty easy) and the shower etc seemed from the 80's. I asked to move to another room and they tried to move me to a King but I needed 2 beds. No dice so I had to sleep in the funky room. the next morning they said they would tell the cleaners to do an extra thorough job cleaning--but nobody had mentioned that to the housekeeper. She got her boss (a very nice and person who tried very hard to be helpful) who couldn't figure out where the smell was coming from. I had to move to another room. They helped and there was a nice fruit plate waiting for me when I got back later (nice touch). But, they hotel just doesn't live up to a 4 star standard. Also, things like cleaning equipment left in weird places like by elevator.

The greatness of Boston is the historic buildings! The Colonnade is one of them, especially with the restaurant exuding the magic charm. Great location for a visit to Boston. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are good size and the bed is great quality. We had several business meetings, with 20 to 40 people attending, which worked well. Coffee Breaks and lunch were tasty and well presented. Highly recommend both for business and private stays.
