Reviews for The Colonnade Hotel

Lovely hotel but front of house staff need more training!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Upon arrival we parked outside to unload our car, there were no staff to help take luggage into the hotel. Check in staff were rushing, unfriendly and unhelpful, No help was offered to take 6 large suitcases up to two rooms, so multiple trips had to be made as two of us had to take the car to the airport, leaving two people with 6 suitcases! Bathrobe wasn’t replaced after using. Cleaning staff were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel itself and rooms were really nice, large and very clean and it is in a great location to see the city. Upon check out the staff were again short and unhelpful. In summary, the impression of a good hotel that you would return to or recommend is usually governed by your welcome and treatment by the front of house staff and on this occasion I am afraid the Colonnade staff failed.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Norman the doorman was extremely helpful looking after us on a personal level and sorting out a taxi.

Not a fan of a sneaky fee

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Very nice hotel, had a nice stay. But was surprised with a sneaky amentias fee I did not appreciate. At check in i was not told anything about the hotel(or fee to be charged later) so I could not even use the amenities. But i did hear the person checking in the people in front of me were told a bit about the hotel. I was not. Not even where to go.

Great staff ... Great location ... Great Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Staying in Boston for the first time, had no real idea of where to stay but have to say The Colonnade as a base is absolutely perfect in every sense. Very friendly staff throughout, spotlessly clean, numerous efficient elevators, roof top swimming pool, great rooms and very pleasant reception area. Hotel guests can take advantage of complimentary breakfast items ... coffee, tea, water, coke, snack bars, apples, oranges etc ... all a nice touch and nice way to start the day. There is a restaurant which is very nice for breakfasts and evening meals, staff again and as throughout so friendly & helpful. Hotel is directly opposite "The View" which has loads of shops, restaurants and ... a great view! Also has a subway stop directly outside which we used occasionally but feels very safe. Walk wise we walked into town and the harbour and back, easy walk and takes approximately 30 minutes providing you don't stop off at the many shops and sights on the way !!! Rooftop.pool is seasonal (closes September) but was an added benefit when we were there. Finally ... and a bit random ... the restrooms ... so plush you just have to use them !!! Thanks to all at The Colonnade ... reception, porters, restaurant staff, room cleaners, bar staff ... you were all great, we loved our stay and will certainly stay again if visiting Boston in the future !

Excellent hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Stayed for 3 nights, 26th through 28th August as part of a wider trip. Excellent hotel, very clean and well maintained with a nice bar/restaurant attached. The rooms are large, New England style decor and the AC is nice and quiet. Location is good, subway stop literally next door and about 10 minutes from Back Bay station. It's a 25 minute walk though into the centre. Lots of restaurants close by as well. The pool was a great place to relax after a busy day with a nice bar and lovely staff. It's only open Memorial Day through to Labor Day though... Boston is a great place to visit, really nice and chilled - very quiet of an evening though!!
