A Complete Nightmare That Still Hasn’t Ended

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 20 hours ago

This was honestly one of the most stressful and upsetting hotel experiences of my life. From the very first night at The Colonnade, my family, my friend, and I started waking up with bites, intense itching, and skin reactions while sleeping in the room. At first we thought it could be mosquitoes or maybe an allergic reaction because we had never experienced anything like this before. However, the symptoms continued throughout our stay and became impossible to ignore. At the time, we did not immediately report the situation to the hotel because we genuinely believed it might have been something minor. It was only after returning to our country and seeking medical attention that we realized the seriousness of what had happened. My friend was affected the most severely and even required medical treatment and injections after the trip. She has a doctor’s prescription because of what happened during our stay. What makes this even more concerning is that I have traveled internationally since childhood, visited more than 30 countries across every continent, and I have never experienced anything remotely like this at any hotel before. The emotional stress this situation caused has honestly been terrible. Since returning home, I have been terrified of bringing bed bugs into my house. I have had to isolate and fumigate luggage, leave belongings outside, avoid using newly purchased clothing, and constantly live with anxiety and fear about a possible infestation. During this trip, I purchased more than $4,000 worth of clothing and personal items at Prudential Center, and now many of those items remain unusable because I am afraid they may be contaminated. Even my luggage has gone through aggressive treatment processes that could potentially damage it. The hotel eventually sent me a brief inspection report stating that no evidence of bed bugs was found after a dog and visual inspection. However, the report itself did not give me much confidence considering the severity and consistency of what multiple people in our group experienced during the stay. I also found it concerning that there is very little publicly available information online about the inspection company that issued the report. Regardless of the inspection results, the reality is that several people staying in the same room began experiencing bites and reactions starting from the very first night. What frustrated me most was feeling that the situation was being minimized instead of genuinely acknowledged. During our conversations, it was suggested that bed bugs can sometimes be picked up while traveling or at airports. While I understand that possibility exists in general, the timing of what happened made it very difficult for us to believe that explanation, especially considering that multiple people in our group began experiencing symptoms starting from the very first night in the room. Some staff members, including the employee who delivered the inspection report, were polite and professional during our interactions, and I appreciate that. However, kindness alone does not erase the stress, anxiety, and disruption this experience caused for my family and me. The location of the hotel is excellent, but unfortunately this experience became a nightmare that continues even after returning home.

Was there for business and would come back for pleasure

I stayed here for a little more than 24 hours. The rooms were so clean and comfortable. Aidan made the check in process was easy. There’s a rubbery ducky in the bathroom which made my day yesterday. Best part though was the lovely interaction I had leaving with the bellman, Norman. He’s a gentleman.

High quality - Great location

So really you can not praise this hotel to much. Location is right by the shopping and near plenty of great restaurants. If needing to get around the city, the underground station (Prudential) is literally right in front of the hotel (about 10 steps) The hotel is clean through out and rooms are spacious and really nice. Foremost the staff over there is the absolute cream of the crop! Highest quality of staff make you feel right at home and they usually go a bit beyond their duty (in my experience)
