From the moment we arrived we didn't get a great service from this hotel. No one offered to help us with our bags upon arrival. When we checked in we weren't told anything about the hotel, bar restaurant etc so as a result we never ate or drank there. We asked if the hotel pool was still open as was one of the main reasons we booked the hotel only to discover it had closed a few days before our arrival, this is fair enough though as our fault for not checking this although had we known it was closed would have booked another hotel. Our mistake though not the hotels. During our stay we made a few enquiries and each time we spoke to a member of staff it was as if we were an inconvenience. Which was not a nice feeling during a week long holiday in a hotel which was not the cheapest option. The room was always clean and nicely made up and the coffee and complimentary water was appreciated. So for a place to lay your head and a base to explore given the hotel is fairly central this was good but as an overall enjoyable experience sadly not the best. Perhaps a hotel for one or two nights stay or a corporate stay but not great as a holiday experience.

I recently stayed at The Colonnade Hotel while vacationing in Boston. The hotel was amazing. The location was great. Room was comfortable and spacious. Staff were great, particularly Jen! She was incredibly helpful, friendly and genuinely interested in helping my mom and I celebrate my 30th Birthday. I would highly recommend this hotel and definitely will stay again the next time I'm in Boston. Great experience.

Loved it! Great hotel! Right in the middle of everything and the staff was great too! We were able to hop on a train, bus, cab and it was close to everything. I would stay here again. The roof top pool was a great plus too!

My husband and I have stayed at the Colonnade Hotel a number of times over the past two years, most recently this week. It's our go-to hotel in Boston. The hotel enjoys a wonderful location near a myriad of restaurants and retail shops. The Colonnade's own bistro serves the best onion soup and profiteroles we have ever had. The service staff is always friendly and professional. We will continue to recommend the Colonnade to friends and family. Thanks for another memorable visit. Looking forward to returning again soon.

Overall, I'd say the rooms/lobby etc were average for this price range (actually pretty small rooms), but the biggest issue by far is the construction defects leading to a serious mold problem in the rooms. See photos below. The problem is twofold: poor construction of the showers, which leak into the wall, and the weird AC units that are built in to the TV stand. I could tell there was a mold issue the minute I walked into our first room. It didn't take long to find the source, a bulging baseboard with black mold behind it. I brought this problem to the attention of the staff, and after showing them the rather horrible pictures, they moved us to another, larger room. The larger rooms do not have the shower defect problem, but I still smelled mold. The source: the AC units, see photos of black mold below. I would have to assume that most of the rooms in the hotel have these issues. I could see water damage on our ceiling from the room above us (see photo), so the whole hotel is suspect. The staff had no clue about this problem. The staff was excellent by the way, and went out of their way to make things right, but they could not overcome the basic problem of the building itself. Until the construction/mold problem is addressed I could never recommend this hotel. Anyone with allergies, respiratory issues or sensitive children may need to be careful here.
