This hotel hit all the markers of a great hotel, seamless check-in, beautiful room and exceptional staff. I would definitely stay here on further visits to Boston.

After a bad experience in a hotel that I stayed in for no more than 10 minutes I checked in at The Langham. Great staff and personal that really makes you stay in the city of Boston great and spectacular.

Stayed as part of FHR. Stay here if you like to eat at hotel because restaurant Grana and Fed bar were very nice ambiance and the food is great. The location good , to walk every where near fanieul hall. Unfortunately I felt the value fell short based on lacking some amenities ie spa. access to lounge on FHR. The rooms were average space. Staff was good. Although we did run into staff at about 11:05pm at The Fed when we popped in to sit for drink and was kind of barked at : "we are closed!" in a not so friendly manner that I actually remembered this to write it. Hence my overall rating. I think there were much to improve to get the 5 green dots.

We’ve stayed at 5 star hotels before and what I find is that the 5 stars come from the experience provided. While the Boston Langham is a solid 3.5 stars, it does not provide a 5 star experience. Upon checking in, no one specifically welcomed us, and no one attempted to assist with our luggage. What the person did do was ask why we were staying with them. We said that we were celebrating our anniversary. And that was that. I had read the reviews about people celebrating their anniversaries here with wild acclaim. I can only surmise those were straight couples. Not once in 4 days did anyone say anything about our anniversary. The gym is important to us, and it is well appointed. I wish the bathrooms in the gym were open before 7 a.m. because we work out early in the morning. For some reason, the person cleaning our room thought it was acceptable to leave our coffee spoons in a dirty napkin and give us towels with holes (see pictures). This would never happen in a true 5 star hotel. Throughout our stay, the staff averted our gaze and rarely said good morning/afternoon/evening and never said hello. It felt very sterile and transactional…not the welcoming atmosphere of a 5 star hotel. James the concierge was the only person who made us feel welcome and helped us with dinner reservations. Turn down service was…water. For this price point, something a little more special is expected. The disappointment continued at the bar. The bar staff are not welcoming. It was as if we were there for THEM. Pretty stuffy environment. When ordering cocktails, maybe put out a little dish of something to nibble on. We went to the bar at the hotel two evenings and then went to the bar at The Newbury the third night and what a difference! The toiletries in the room are very nice and the food at The Grana is quite good. Be sure you make reservations for breakfast as they are quite busy. Maybe having a larger variety for breakfast would be nice. We were there for 3 breakfasts and were a little bored with the options at the end. We stayed in an executive room which gave us access to the club lounge…big disappointment. The champagne was constantly out and the food was blah. Maybe have more than one bottle of champagne at a time? Not worth the extra cost. Finally, the farewell. Sorry TJ, but when we checked out you didn’t say thank you for staying, ask how our stay was or wish us a safe trip home. I feel this is something that the staff of even a low quality establishment would say. Hospitality 101. The Boston Langham is resting on its laurels and banking on the assumption that it is 5 star due to name association only.
