Luxury Without the Pretension

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

St Julien Hotel & Spa is one of those rare places that truly gets it right—every single time. We live just a couple miles away and still choose to staycation here a few times a year, which says everything. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed in a way that feels warm and genuine, not pretentious. Being greeted by name, thoughtful room upgrades, and the kind of service that feels personal without being overdone—it all adds up. The details are what make it special. Turndown service with slippers and a genuinely delicious piece of chocolate feels like such a treat. Inside the rooms, everything is simple, clean, and beautifully maintained. The Nespresso makers are a perfect touch, and the soaking tubs make it feel like a true reset. It’s never over the top—just thoughtfully done and consistently cared for. Outside of the room, the experience carries all the way through the property. The espresso martinis at the bar are some of the best—Troy at T-Zero absolutely nails them. Meals at Jill’s, time spent in the lobby—it’s all inviting without ever feeling overdone. You can just settle in and enjoy being there. What stands out most is the staff. From front desk to housekeeping, everyone is kind, attentive, and genuinely seems like they want to be there—which, to me, says they’re being treated well too. The pool and hot tub are a highlight, especially with views of the Flatirons—sometimes snow-capped, which never gets old. The space is always clean, stocked with fresh towels, and clearly checked on frequently. It’s simple, but done really well. We’ve had rooms overlooking both the mountains and Walnut Street, and the balcony views are incredible. It’s the kind of place where you can get work done, step out for a hike, and come back to something that feels like a true escape. As someone who’s spent years in the service industry, I notice the details—and they get them right. Every time. We always leave feeling taken care of, and we’re already looking forward to the next stay.

Overall very good stay

Location was impossible to beat. Room was comfortable and very clean. Bell staff and valets are pros. I don't know if I'd return or find an Airbnb next time, but it's a very nice hotel and doesn't deserve some of the silly poor reviews it receives. It's a solid 4/5. That said, I'd have gladly paid 40-50% more for a 5/5 wow experience... I'm not sure Boulder has that right now.

Best Hotel in Boulder

Concierge Desk is the greatest! Catherine Nate and Michelle were so delightful and helpful. Best recommendations and supreme service. Bellboys and valets are incredible too. Everything is always so easy and taken care of when I stay here. Thank you St. Julien staff. It’s always a wonderful experience! The pool is my kids favorite too.

5 out of 5 Stars, best hotel in Boulder/Denver Area, but…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Hotel stays are subjective, but I’ve stayed at the St. Julien hundreds of times as I use it as a homebase for a great deal of travel out of Denver. For me it’s not just the best hotel in Boulder, it’s the best hotel in Denver/Boulder area: Pros: Exceptional staff. Be nice to them they are great! Amazing views and amazing atmosphere inside the hotel. Great pool and spa. Exceptional in room dining. Huge bathtub in every room and, while AI summary says some people have complained of noise, I honestly don’t see it and I’m hyper noise sensitive. The rooms are quiet and calming. From the owners to GM to from desk to housekeeping and valets, everyone there is top notch. It’s also a great value for the quality of stay. Best location in Boulder. Cons: The rooms could use an upgrade. The work desk and chair in the room are old and not adjustable so unless by chance you are the right height it’s not great for working. The TV is really low on the wall versus most hotels such that it’s hard to watch in bed. Not a huge deal they have comfy lounge chairs with foot rests in most rooms. And they recently got all new mattresses. Certainly they are high quality and this is going to be very subjective — their previous ones were soft and for me like sleeping on a cloud. The new mattresses are very firm (to me). If you like soft this might be an issue for you but hotels are in no win situations here, I personally think they should always just get a 5/10 softfirm and split the difference. They didn’t in this case but many will like them and they should soften up some over time. Overall great people, atmosphere, attention to small details that matter. I highly recommend.
