As my title states... you basically have two quality options in Boulder. I have stayed at both, eaten in both, been in the spa, spent time there, had events in both, been to the bars several times, etc. If you're looking to stay in Boulder, I will break down what I think the differences are so you can make your decision. One is not better than the other, but rather, they are both great and different. Upscale and newer: Saint Julien - there is no contest here. Old school rich culture: Hotel Boulderado - the old money culture is there, and a quaint feel. Sunday Brunch: Saint Julien has a Sunday brunch that is amazing. It's expensive... but worth it. Cool upscale Speakeasy in the basement: Hotel Boulderado - great drinks, some dancing, sometimes live music, and food served from the awesome restaurant upstairs. - Note: St. Julian bar is no joke... but it's not as much of a unique experience. There patio area is quite nice though as an outdoor high end bar. Breakfast: Hotel Boulderado - it's a bit of a Boulder secret... shhh. Lunch/Dinner: Tie. Both have amazing restaurants. SJ is more high end and I would recommend dinner there.. but HB delivers nonetheless at a lower price point, and I would recommend their corner bar for lunch. There are so many good lunch and dinner restaurants in Boulder... but eating here is a good option too. Very cool history: Hotel Boulderado - you can walk around the hotel and look at a lot of neat history, like what the menu was decades ago... 30 cents for a steak, etc. More in the neighborhood: Hotel Boulderado - while they are close to each other... Boulderado is near the spruce street neighborhood area. Both are extremely short walks to all that Pearl Street Mall has to offer. Spa Treatments: Saint Julien - amazing Spa lineup. Pricey, but good. Quieter: Tie... HB is in a less busy part of town, but SJ rooms are newer and more sound proof. Higher end room finishes and more sq ft = Saint Julien - no contest. Well, there you have it! It's a pretty clear cut between the two... just depends if you're looking for more of the standard higher end experience, or a bit less high end... but perhaps a more unique experience. Both are great locations.. and if you're in Boulder for 4 or more nights, I would recommend splitting them up.. or at least heading over to the other one to check out what makes them better or more unique.

The hotel has a great location in Boulder, within walking distance to many activities, restaurants and local shops. Rooms are very nice. It can be hard to get a reservation at times because of the University, business conferences so book early.

This is beautiful hotel with just about the friendliest staff around. We stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The highlight was the spa experience. The Rock On (hot stones) massage was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it!

My husband and I traveled to Boulder for the first time a few weeks ago. The St, Julien was a perfect place to stay. The rooms are very large and the bed was super comfortable. The lobby is great and has live music at night overlooking the Flat Irons. My only suggestions are to pay the little bit more for a room with a view. I didn't think it was worth it, but our room overlooked some sort of parking lot with big trucks. I wish we had the view. Also, I asked for late check-out, and was told they could not accommodate us (which I thought was I only asked for one extra hour). But all in all, a great hotel, great concierge and the front door staff are so welcoming!! Will definitely visit again!

Rooms are beautiful. Loved the spa quality toiletries and soaking tube complete with bath salts. Nightly turn down service. All the team members are very friendly and helpful. Nice robe and sleepers. Rooms are quiet and bed is comfortable.
