Touchstone on Lake Muskoka

Touchstone Resort is advertised as a four-star property, but it feels dated and, in our view, does not deserve its four-star rating. Its lakeside location is the only aspect that justifies the high room rate of CAD 1,140 for two nights. We stayed in a twin room in the main building. The room was spacious and offered a wonderful view of the lake. However, housekeeping appeared rushed and superficial. A so-called “concierge” contacted us by text message with updated opening hours for the spa and pool facilities and encouraged us to share any requests. Yet our request for an additional coffee capsule for the in-room coffee machine went unanswered — there was only one capsule provided for two people for a two-night stay. Although Touchstone promotes itself as a resort, it does not offer breakfast. The closest thing to breakfast was pre-brewed coffee and packaged muffins available at reception. The Touchstone Grill restaurant looked somewhat shabby, and the tables were not clean. The service also leaves room for improvement. The food was good, but not outstanding. Overall, the resort does not live up to a four-star standard.

Fabulous weekend stay at Touchstone - accommodations/restaurant outstanding - fun lake and beach time - paddle boarding was a highlight

First time staying at Touchstone and it was wonderful! Our suite was modern, clean and spacious, and fully appointed -- lots of room for our family of 6. The resort and grounds are really well maintained and spread out, so it also feels private. Both the lakefront restaurant and Bob's Bar offer stunning views across Lake Muskoka. Dinner on the deck that evening was beautiful; the service and our meals were outstanding, even with a wedding going on just over from the restaurant (great location for a wedding reception btw!). We really could not ask for more and wish we could have stayed longer! Gary B

Stayed here with family. The pool and hot tub by the beach was closed for "maintenance". Was not informed or told about this prior to my stay. Unacceptable. Had to walk up a hill with small children. Would have cancelled my stay if I knew. Also, asked for more pool towels and was told to "use the dryer". VERY rude. The bright spot is the restaurant is 5 star although very expensive and the room was very clean. It's a quiet place to relax. Not very busy however not having the pool and hot tub made our stay less enjoyable.

One of our favourite spots in Muskoka. We haven’t been back for a few years and were delighted to be welcomed back. This is a first class resort with amazing amenities - we love the spa and the restaurant patio is wonderful. We loved the service and the salmon!! The pool by the beach was closed while we were there which was disappointing but they were kind enough to move us closer to hot tub and the infinity pool. Our two bedroom boathouse unit had an amazing view and was stocked with everything you can think of. Clean as a whistle! Can’t wait to come back!!
