The Lodge in Bradford, Pennsylvania
Recalling simpler times, Glendorn is a place where the quiet pleasures of the past meet the fabulous pampering of today. Dating back to the 1920s, this 1,280-acre estate in the northwestern Pennsylvania town of Bradford continues to be family run, and as such offers a kind of hospitality unmatched by larger hotels. A selection of guest rooms and suites in the Big House or individual cabins with wood-burning fireplaces mean good old-fashioned comfort, while a Relais & Chateaux affiliation assures a dedication to perfecting the inn's distinctive neo-global cuisine.
A sophisticated wine program and sumptuous spa treatments provide a delightful contrast to the rustic surroundings of Allegheny National Forest. The majestic natural setting is sure to draw you out, to float tube Bondieu Lake or take a scenic boat drift on the Clarion River. Because the inn is Orvis endorsed, you will enjoy exceptional private access fly-fishing on Fuller Brook. As well, you might hike the vast trail system, play golf at the private Penn Hills Country Club, or in the winter downhill ski at Holiday Valley.

Reviews for The Lodge
Our family of four visited for Mothers Day weekend. While the weather was not fantastic, we still greatly fully enjoyed the beautiful property with a Jeep tour, skeet shooting, and complimentary bike rides. The Jill cabin was cozy and elegant. The baths and kitchen are dated and that brings the rating down from 5 stars. That one element is the only slightly negative attribute from our visit. The food was excellent and they had food offerings that our rather picky 10 and 14 year old kids liked. Our kids loved the complimentary chocolate chip cookies and ice cream! The included items in the fridge and on site were above what you receive at most places and they elevated the experience. All of the staff on site were very nice and professional. The lodge was rustic and beautiful at the same time. The grounds were gorgeous! Our children were the only ones on the property that weekend which wasn't an issue for us, but it was a shame because there are so many great amenities for kids. We will go back again to enjoy the natural setting and the fantastic dining experience!

We arrived Thursday evening and stayed until Sunday after breakfast. There were four people in our party (two couples) and we stayed in John's Cabin. Upon arriving, we were greeted by Elizabeth, who was super friendly. She informed us where we were staying, that the other couple in our party had already arrived, that we had a dinner reservation at 7:30 and then gave us a historical tour of the Big House (main building that housed the restaurant, single sleeping accommodations and Bar). She then drove us over to our cabin. The cabin was anything but rustic! It was a 4 bedroom home with very welcoming decor and many things original to the Dorn Family property. That evening we relaxed and had dinner. Olga was our server for dinner and many other meals. Presentation was superb! Friday was action packed--we biked, canoed, hiked and fly fished! We also had spa services and Jenny was fantastic and friendly! We watched the Cavs game in the fitness center/game room. There is a self serve ice cream parlor and popcorn machine in the fitness center--it was heavenly! You could eat an ice cream cone while running on the treadmill! We didn't feel like eating dinner in the main dining room that night, so we inquired about local restaurants or pizza places. Within minutes of our asking, we had a written list on the kitchen counter! We went with pizza and Paige literally order our pizza, went and picked it up and delivered it to our cabin! I also need to mention, while I was shopping for things in the gift shop, I inquired about a book i saw in the cabin that I liked and wanted to purchase--A Guide to Trees, Shrubs, Clubmosses and Ferns. Paige said, "Take it! If you really like it, please take it and call me if you would like additional copies! It's a local book and not too expensive..." I cannot express enough how FANTASTIC ALL OF THE STAFF were. On Friday night, we attended a bonfire on Skipper Lake. We actually crashed a private party (unaware of this) and had a wonderful time talking with the owners of Glendorn, Cliff and Tracy Forrest, and their son. They are wonderful people! On Saturday, we had a guide (Jim) who took us Fly Fishing on Bondieu Lake. He was great! He taught us all how to cast and he stayed and worked with us for 4 hours! He made sure we all caught at least one fish! Shane was also so helpful and knowledgeable and took the time to explain things to us, tell us about different places on the property. There was a bonfire again Saturday night where they offered s'mores and craft beer. Shane was there and we got to talk about the property, fishing... It was a great time! Every night, we had ice delivered to our cabin, roses were placed on our beds, and little chocolate truffles were left for us. Oh--I forgot to mention that they gave us a never ending supply of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in our Cabin kitchen! I cannot state enough how every aspect of our stay was amazing. The property is amazing and the staff are amazing. The food was great! The only down side was leaving! We were so sad to leave! Glendorn is great for families, couples, retreats... there are activities for everyone!

Imagine the famous The Point in the Adirondacks, and ,move it from lake to sitting among several classic meandering streams and 1200 acres of private woods, and you've got Glendorn. Hard to believe this is northwest Pennsylvania. Food and Service was typical Relais and Chateau - perfect

This is an excellent property. It has all the amenities of a luxury hotel while being located in the mountains of Pennsylvania. The varied selection of accommodations is what attracted us. You can get a room in the main lodge or have your own cabin. The property has a plethora of options. The food is fabulous and the endlessly full cookie jar in our cabin was delightful. I cannot say enough great things about this property. Looking for a great get-away location with all the comforts of a luxury hotel, Glendorn is it!

Traveled with my wife, son and his guest in late January. This was not our first stay, although it has been awhile since we last visited the Glendorn. Everyone enjoyed the overnight stay. The service, the Lodge, the grounds, the range of activities and the dining experience all remain exceptional. It was nice to meet the new manager and some of current staff all of whom were impressive, professional, engaging and very service oriented. We were pleased also to see again employees that we have know from the past. It was a pleasure to renew our acquaintance. We're so happy that now when availability permits, the Glendorn allows a single night visit. This works best for us as we live within an hour of this special place and like the idea from time to time we can take a day to escape to the Relais & Chateau so close by.
