Reviews for McCarren Hotel & Pool

Just 1 issue

Very nice place to stay in a great location. The room was reasonably spacious and well appointed. My only issue was that the beds were very low, as in close to the floor, and difficult for older guests such as me to climb out of. I've never run across another bed like it, and it was not an exception at this hotel m

Great staff, great location

I had a wonderful experience at Coda. I’m especially appreciative of Felix and Franco at the desk who went above and beyond to accommodate my needs upon arrival (thank you SO much), but all the staff I came across throughout my stay were very helpful. The only caveat for me was that the rooms aren’t very muffled which can be a huge con for light sleepers. Otherwise the hotel is clean, located in a central and bustling part of Williamsburg, and has exceptional service from staff.

Avoid this place at all costs. Easily one of the most frustrating and poorly managed hotel experiences I’ve had.

I booked my room three weeks in advance, only to receive an email at 4:00 AM the morning of my stay saying I had 24 hours to update my credit card. Six hours later, I received another email from the interim GM claiming there was a “typo” and I actually only had until noon. I updated my payment at 11:20 AM—well within that window—only to receive a cancellation notice 15 minutes later. When I called to figure out what was going on, the interim GM told me my reservation was canceled because I “didn’t update my card.” When I explained that I absolutely did (and before the stated noon deadline), he backtracked and said he could reinstate the reservation—but that my original room type was no longer available. After pushing back (because that made zero sense), he abruptly put me on hold, then returned and suddenly “found” my original room type. That level of inconsistency and lack of accountability tells you everything you need to know. When I asked who he reports to, his answer was simply “ownership”—which says a lot. This feels like yet another case of private equity ownership prioritizing nothing but the bottom line, with zero regard for the guest experience. And unfortunately, the issues didn’t stop there. The room itself was subpar: weak water pressure, water that never got hot enough, a constant rattling noise throughout the night, and a visible stain on the couch. The cherry on top? A white noise machine that looked like it was literally duct-taped to the hallway wall. From start to finish, this was a disorganized, frustrating, and frankly unprofessional experience. There are far better options out there—do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else.

Slept comfortably at Coda

Great location in the heart of everything you want to do in Williamsburg. Staff is warm & professional, Franco & Allison were anxious to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Beds & pillows are comfortable & the price is very competitive. Rooms are what you expect in NYC - small with no frills but quiet & comfortable. The restaurant Meili is convenient, a winter perk accessible from the lobby. Great dining options in every direction.
