From the outside, this looked like a cosy hotel bar. Once inside, it was a little strange, as we had to sit at a table that felt like we were in the breakfast area. Service was pleasant and the drinks were okay, but it wasn't really the experience we were looking for.

very nice location - castle district plenty of interesting places close to the hotel if a room faces the street - opening the window in the evening is out of question - too loud, also you can hear people walking and talking if close to the door the mattres was not very comfy the restaurant- goulash soup was so so, hardly any meat in it and generally not reach it was very strange when I asked for coffee in the morning, got it served in the patio, machiato was served cold... when I asked for a regular machiato my coffee was warmed up... got it so hot then that it was impossible to drink... I was not charged for this but experience was not so good very kind and helpful reception staff

Just returned from a 3 day 4 night stay, and it was just perfect. The Hotel itself as others have pointed out, in the Buda Castle district, right near the old cathedral. The district is clean, safe, seems to be slowly being restored, and is filled with stately buildings and history. Its a very chill, casual environment in general. Not overrun with hordes of tourists. But this is a review of the hotel, and the St George is probably one of the most wonderful individual hotel experiences we've had over many years and hundreds of hotels. Our rooms were spotless, spacious, and well appointed. Counter to most European specialty hotels, besides there being ample space, there's also plenty of surface area to put your belongings, which was great. Breakfast was fine, traditional fare. We had them do some laundry for us, and it was done well in a timely fashion. The staff was great, Hungarians who know their city and culture, and were very helpful and honest. They helped us navigate the awful taxi problem too, so that was really appreciated. For us it was an ideal experience. Many "boutiques" are so maniacally focused on style they forget the substance, but the St George is incredibly substantive in a beautiful and homey way. Would return there in a heartbeat. I think its actually under-priced.... The only things worth noting is the showers are handheld, and the AC mostly works.

St George's in out of the beaten path of the downtown late night district, and easy enough to get to and from there. My friend and I stayed here 5 nights and trekked all over the city and slept like rocks here! The historic building has a lot of character. If you're a walker, I highly recommend staying here. It's a 20 minute walk +/- to the Danube, and it's on the same side of the Danube as at least 3 baths and the entire Castel District. We came back on the late night end of things a couple nights and felt super safe and welcome. There's a breakfast place across the street that I recommend over the one that St. George's offers- that is my only feedback that the breakfast didn't look compelling at all, but across the street was delicious!
