We went as a couple in August for an anniversary trip. We stayed the first four nights at Las Ventanas and finished out the last 3 nights here. Although Las Ventanas beat our Chileno Bay for service in the end, we would most likely return to Chileno Bay. Here is why; To be clear, both of these resorts are wonderful and you will be happy. However, for us in the end it is two things, price point for value and swimmable beach. Upon arrival, we were shown our room, which was very nice. Prior to arrival, we were warned several times of the ongoing construction, which is absolutely true. But, they clearly warned us and they gave a discount. This was great forethought and good business I wish to repay. They make you a drink and the drinks here are very good. Pool service on day one was wonderful, with a gentleman in the pool swimming up to you with small free drink samples, which was wonderful. But then he disappeared for the remainder of our trip. My husband was sick for the end of our trip so I had room service the first night for dinner, which was good. The second night was a special dinner at the resort with a guest chef, and we were able to talk with both the house and guest chef, which was really fun and made us feel special. Thank you. We did go to the sister resort and have dinner there, which I recommend. What a great view. The food prices will not shock at either place and you can snack in your room with free snacks and pop. We brought wine with but their drinks were so great, and they gave us a bottle of champagne for our anniversary, we ended up bringing one home. The room is simple and modern, which we loved. It felt clean and the bathroom was wonderful, loved the outdoor shower as it was so warm out there and I am always cold. Closet space was good and staff cleaned the rooms very well each day. I loved having the swimmable beach. You simply walk in front of the TNT bar down a hall and open the door to a public beach. I jumped in the ocean numerous times and was greeted by many colorful fish. So many families, it is fun to be around so many people having fun. Then you can come back over and jump in the warm pool and order food and drinks from the bar again. Perfect. Only a couple things to work on, consistently good service. Overall it was good, but there is clear room to get better. I was alone due to a sick husband sometimes at the pool and had to fix up my bed on a couple different occasions and move the umbrella on several other times. Not a big deal as I could have waited and had them do it, but the resort had very few people there, I gather due to the construction, so service should shine right now. Another thing that surprised us was the price of Sunday brunch, I think it was around $75 per person? As my husband was still sick we opted out of this but yikes, that was the only big money surprise. Maybe look into a one section option that people who would only eat a section of could opt to do and not waste so much food? We had a couples spa and that was wonderful! I like all the extras in the couples massage and wont spoil it. We will certainly go back there the next time we come. One of the days rain was expected so they planned a day of free activities, again such great business, I love it. We took advantage of a free mixology glass and we were the only ones there. IT WAS AWESOME. Talking with the main bartender and having him personally ours for an hour, along with him making a special drink just for us, was something we will always remember. Thank you again. Of the two places, Las Ventanas and Chileno Bay, over the last couple weeks I think of Chileno Bay more. It was simple, modern, clean, with a smart business sense allowing customers to feel special in many different ways. The view is wonderful, the pools are a sight to look at. We tried to upgrade to a villa prior to arrival, but that did not appear to be an option at the time we came. When we return, maybe we could arrange that next time. Once they are finished with this resort, it could be great.

We had a 3 bedroom villa, great design and view. The villa included everything you need in a modern house. The whole resort was very well maintained. Good spa service and gym. The pool area was amazing, clean, good service, loved the floating tequila bar. Breakfast service was excellent, to many choices! Great food and service! Downside was the construction done outside, some noise.

From start to finish this was the best hotel experience I have ever had. Such small touches that I hadn't even thought of simply amazed me. The rooms were elegant and modern, always clean and very peaceful. The pool is exceptional and the service was so attentive but not over bearing. The private beach and facilities available were excellent, there was always something to do. My favorite part was my signature cocktail made by head bar tender, Osvaldo. Nothing was too much trouble, he was knowledgeable and friendly. He made our evenings! Overall I had a fabulous holiday and felt so relaxed here. I can't recommend this enough, we just loved it.

The hotel is gorgeous. The pool area is beautiful and the restaurant too. We booked a 3 bedroom villa which was gorgeous and very comfortable. The downside there was construction behind our villa and many construction workers around.

Just wanted to say a sincere thank you to Chileno Bay for making us feel so safe and secure during this tropical storm. They were more than happy to address any question, concern and request that we had. The staff was warm and friendly throughout, worked tirelessly through the nights, and was quick to move us to their sister property when the power went out. Prior to the storm they were a pleasure to interact with as well. Thanks again, and hope to see you again when it's not hurricane season! ;)
