Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa feels secluded, even though it’s still considered part of Cabo’s Marina Golden Zone. At the far end of the area’s development, quiet, tranquil beaches await, and a string of infinity pools cascade down the resort’s hillside. Hacienda’s traditional Mexican-style suites start at 800 square feet – book a Family Suite for twice that much space – and are outfitted in earth tones with handcrafted furniture and textiles from Guadalajara. Guests who want to venture afield can enjoy their all-inclusive privileges at Golden Zone restaurants, accessible by complimentary shuttle.

As the sun washes over the property’s Spanish Colonial architecture, wake up with a plate of Albail-style eggs with salsa and corn tortillas. Walk along the beach and keep an eye out for dolphins cresting the waves. Cleanse the mind and body during a traditional Temazcal ceremony, where water infused with medicinal herbs steams from piping-hot rocks. Sip top-shelf tequila on an open-air patio as the day fades into night.

We just finished our first vacation at Hacienda Encantada from May 4 to May 14, 2018. Excuse the long review but I find very detailed reviews by travelers a wealth of information on my vacations. Resort: The resort is very nice but, as pointed out by past reviews, if you have mobility issues and do not like using golf cart transport, this is not the resort for you. We did not experience long waits for golf cart transport when we decided to use them. Although the resort restaurants etc. are not that far apart, walking from one location to another can be “uphill” so it feels farther away than it really is. Walking downhill is a breeze. If you do not like a quiet and laid-back vacation, this is not the resort for you. We did have to wait until after 4pm for our checkin, so do not get in a rush. We did participate in the timeshare presentation (only for the perks $150 toward food and drinks) and also received a discount of 15% on food and drinks when not using certificates listed above. Our sales person was Alex Neely who was very interesting to speak with and he was not at all pushy. We did go through a few other individuals but the experience was not bad. If you tour the show units and have breakfast, it took about 3 hours, so don’t be in a rush. The negative about the presentation was the breakfast. Our breakfast was very minimal buffet located at the Italian restaurant area. This was “not” the breakfast served at Las Marias/Los Risco’s restaurant. So, if you decide to do the presentation, I would insist on the “good” breakfast buffet at Las Marias/Los Risco’s. Room: We had 2 studio rooms which were very nice and more than enough space for our group of 3 persons. There was daily housekeeping who did a good job. However, keep in mind the floors were not as clean as they should be. When walking barefoot in unit for short period, the bottoms of my feet were black. My sister observed the housekeeping service and said they did mop daily, maybe they do not change the water enough. The only item we had to request several times was wash cloths. We sometimes bring our own on vacation in the event this is an issue. I personally do not like the comforter they have between the sheet and top bed covering, it obviously is stuffed with feathers and can be picky. I think the mattress topper may have had feathers also. If you have allergy issues with feathers, you may want to speak with the staff ahead of time and have them replace bed covering. I think the resort could do better in this area by providing more appropriate comfortable bedding covers etc. Food: All the food at the resort was good, we did not have a bad experience with anything we ordered. We “did not” do the all inclusive as we are not big drinkers and we tend to share meals. During this vacation, our bill at checkout was $889 for 3 persons which included $30 transport to Marina one day, a few things in the market and $56 service fees. (They charge $8 per day for service on your final bill). The all inclusive will cost approximately $100 per day per person. In our experience, we spend less than cost of all inclusive on almost every vacation, and we do not worry about prices of items when we order food. Also keep in mind all inclusive does not mean “everything” is included. On some dishes you will have to pay extra. Phase I poolside and cliff service with food from El Patio (open 10am to 7pm) during the day was excellent for us. We met server “Cesar David Garcia” on our first day and had fantastic service all week. On a day or two when Cesar was not working, we were served by “Isai Martinez” who provided good service also. El Patio favorites were the Shrimp Wrap. We also had the quesadilla, fish tacos, tropical salad (excellent), coconut shrimp and the shrimp cocktail which was excellent. The cocktail had large shrimp with avocado, mango, tomato etc. with a sweet taste, excellent. All dishes with shrimp had very good-sized shrimp. Las Maria/Los Riscos breakfast buffet was excellent. You can get omelets made to order as well as eggs etc., and a wide variety of other buffet items, too many to list really. Buffet open til 12pm I think and if you eat around 10:30 -11:30 the meal can last you until your evening meal. The cost was $21 per person with the 15% discount card. Los Riscos (open 6pm-10pm and reservation required) had an international buffet one night that was excellent. You could get shrimp and other seafood items and pasta to order and a wide variety of other buffet items. I’m not a big fan of buffets but getting made to order items in addition of buffet items works. Keep in mind that you must make a reservation and there are “no” shady spots to sit. So, if you don’t mind sitting in the sun, reserve for 6 or 7 pm. If you prefer a not so sunny supper, then I would book for 7:30 or later. We did not eat at Los Riscos to experience their steaks since the night we reserved was international buffet night, so we cannot provide review of their steaks. However, we spoke with several persons we met at resort who gave negative reviews of their steaks. Barolo Italian restaurant (open 6pm -10:30 pm reservation required) had excellent food. My favorite was the Lasagna Alla Bolonese which was tasty and had plenty of meat with sufficient portion of food. Other dishes enjoyed were Pasta Fresca Di Ravioli (stuffed with lobster and shrimp) and topped with sauce and more shrimp. Our group felt the portion for this dish could be larger. We had the cheese appetizer plate with multiple cheeses, olives, several meats and ciabatta bread with grilled veggies and other toppings. Desserts were Cannoli and orange pannacotta and lemon ice crème which was more like shaved ice that melted in your mouth. Il Forno (open 10am to 10pm no reservation required) had good quesadillas and beef tacos and one evening we had a Hawaiian Pizza with Pepperoni and the Special Pizza. Food was good. They have no desserts but our server gave us a surprise drink called a “Dirty Monkey” which consisted of pineapple, chocolate, banana, whip crème and no alcohol. This was very good and satisfied our taste buds for something sweet. El den Tequila Bar (open 6pm to 10:30 pm no reservation needed) had good taco options and we had beef and shrimp with panella cheese in bowl with veggies which was really good but be beef was tough. Trajinera Restaurant (open 6pm -10pm reservation required) had good food. We had the guacamole with grasshoppers (just to say we had grasshoppers), tortilla soup, pumpkin crème soup, roasted duck, tuna carnitas. Although we did not get the cheese appetizer, you should try it, the table side presentation was excellent to watch. For dessert we had corn cake with crème cheese ice crème which we felt was the best dessert and crème caramel with fruit and warm chocolate cake stuffed with chocolate pudding with ice crème. Pianist was entertaining. Sr Sushi menu was served by ElPatio at cliff side area and was good. We cannot review LaPergola as we did not experience their food. Offsite food at Marina: Alexander’s Restaurant at the Marina is a must visit. The staff was excellent and table side preparations of tequila shrimp, Cesar salad and flambé desserts was great. We had the Mother’s Day Special with (three) 6 oz filet minion, six large tequila shrimp with all sides of rice, potatoes for $98. We also ordered Cesar salad, crème brulee of the day and table side flambé desserts. Our final bill was $185 for 3 persons and food, presentations and service were excellent. Resort Entertainment: We watched the outdoor movie “Step-mom” which was nice atmosphere and comfortable seating. However, they should start the movie a little later because it was difficult to see movie on side of bldg.. initially until sunset. We listened to accordion player at Barolo who was good. We did not participate in any of the resort daytime activities.

From the moument we arrived at the Hacienda Encantada my family was taken care of. The staff was excellent !!! They were all so genuine and helpful. From Felix with Margaritas, to Luis & David checking us in to Oscar transporting us to our room and Omar always smiling and making sure we where happy. Alondra at the concierge desk was a huge help with all of questions and needs ! Our rooms were spaciuous and clean with all the amenities !! After we where situated we went right down to the pool. Thats when we met Fernan Antunez, he was the BEST !! My family considers Fernan a good friend now and will go back to this resort because of him plus other things. Fernan, myself & other guest had some awesome pool volley ball games daily. My kids got a kick out his humor and he threw the football to my son as he jumped in the pool daily. I want to give Ricardo some attention for being a great sever as well !! We are so Glad we stayed at the Hacienda Encantada and will defiantly be back next year !!

We've been to Cabo six times, twice we've stayed at Hacienda Encantada. In 2017, we took the family for grandkids spring break. May 2018, my husband and I went to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. Where to begin about this place? We keep coming back for a reason, right? Besides being such a beautiful resort with amazing food, the staff is what makes us come back over and over again. Most of them remembered us from our last visit. A BIG SHOUT OUT to the servers, Billy, Daniel, Jesus, Rigoberto and Giovanni, just to name a few. Thank you for taking good care of us 🙌🏼. The restaurant hostess Brenda, always so attentive and making sure we were okay 👍🏻. Ullises the consierge, always making sure we got to and from with no problem and making our restaurant reservations at the exact time we wanted it 👏🏼. Our housekeeper Yadira, Gracias for always keeping our room so clean, our mini fridge fully stocked daily and for making the cutest towel animals 🙌🏼. Sinder the master of entertainment, a million thank you's for always being so enthusiastic, the karaoke night was so much fun. I sang and danced like never before. Your Art walk excursion was a nice idea 👍🏻. I want to congratulate Hacienda Encantada for their beautiful resort, for having exemplary staff. Can't wait to come back next year with the family again. ALL inclusive is the best way to go. Blessings to ALL 🙏🏼

We are in the middle of a week long visit to this beautiful resort just outside of Cabo. The hotel itself is beautiful, the setting is stunning and we have been spoiled by the incredible staff. Most recently we enjoyed a lovely lunch at El Patio with our amazing server Luis Lua. Make sure to visit this fabulous pool side restaurant and request Luis Lua as your server.
