Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa feels secluded, even though it’s still considered part of Cabo’s Marina Golden Zone. At the far end of the area’s development, quiet, tranquil beaches await, and a string of infinity pools cascade down the resort’s hillside. Hacienda’s traditional Mexican-style suites start at 800 square feet – book a Family Suite for twice that much space – and are outfitted in earth tones with handcrafted furniture and textiles from Guadalajara. Guests who want to venture afield can enjoy their all-inclusive privileges at Golden Zone restaurants, accessible by complimentary shuttle.

The Good: The views are spectacular, the grounds are beautiful, and the Sea of Cortez sunsets are hard to beat. Mística had the best food of the trip, and the Mexican restaurant finally delivered with a great molcajete and some actual spicy salsa. The sister resort’s restaurant, Jack’s, offered much better value. The Bad: The timeshare pressure started immediately and continued throughout the week with repeated calls to our room after we’d already declined. Breakfast buffets were limited, often lukewarm, and somehow managed to make Mexico feel like a mid-tier airport lounge. Service was painfully slow, with drinks often taking 30 minutes and food regularly arriving cold. The Ugly: You come to Mexico expecting great Mexican food. Hacienda Encantada seems determined to prove that’s optional. Several nights there wasn’t even a Mexican restaurant open. The food quality generally ranged from mediocre to disappointing while carrying steakhouse-level prices. The $55 “filet” still has me wondering exactly what cut of beef I was eating. Need to sleep in? Don’t worry—the landscaping crew provides a complimentary 6:30 AM wake-up call with leaf blowers and lawn equipment. Restaurant reservations were another adventure. We were turned away from nearly empty restaurants multiple times, while another guest casually informed us that a $20 bill solved that problem for him. There is no beach access, the adult pool wasn’t always adults-only, nightlife essentially ends when the bars close around 10 PM, and operational issues were common—from transportation that never showed up to luggage left unattended outside. As someone who spends several months a year traveling internationally, this is one of the few vacations where I genuinely would have taken an earlier flight home if one had been available. Come for the views. Don’t come for the food.

We came here with our adult sons and had a wonderful time. The resort is stunning. The staff are friendly and hard working. We did not do all inclusive, but did eat several times on property. The food we had was good. Great vacation!!

Juan and Omar at The Patio Bar were so attentive and helpful. Always making sure we had what we needed, and remembered our drink orders every time.

It was an ok experience, nothing extraordinary. This resort is missing a lot from other properties in Cabo these days. I requested a high floor and they gave me first floor! And right next to Eden so every night was pretty noisy despite the fact that the resort was almost empty. There was a lot of miss communication between the whole operation, front desk didn’t knew I purchased AI then they told me it didn’t include alcohol then at the pool they said it was included and finally they gave me AI for more days because apparently they forgot to activate it the system the first day, very frustrating to get all different answers all over the place. The rooms are full of mosquitoes!! Definitely need to take care of that. I was at the spa, sadly the view is being blocked by the construction of a new resort right in front, also there is an alarming amount of bees around the spa-pool area, not enjoyable experience. Food is ok. Servers treat you ok. I can only mention Olivia and Rosa from the spa which they genuinely made us feel welcomed and happy with the service.
