Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa feels secluded, even though it’s still considered part of Cabo’s Marina Golden Zone. At the far end of the area’s development, quiet, tranquil beaches await, and a string of infinity pools cascade down the resort’s hillside. Hacienda’s traditional Mexican-style suites start at 800 square feet – book a Family Suite for twice that much space – and are outfitted in earth tones with handcrafted furniture and textiles from Guadalajara. Guests who want to venture afield can enjoy their all-inclusive privileges at Golden Zone restaurants, accessible by complimentary shuttle.

As the sun washes over the property’s Spanish Colonial architecture, wake up with a plate of Albaņil-style eggs with salsa and corn tortillas. Walk along the beach and keep an eye out for dolphins cresting the waves. Cleanse the mind and body during a traditional Temazcal ceremony, where water infused with medicinal herbs steams from piping-hot rocks. Sip top-shelf tequila on an open-air patio as the day fades into night.

I had a luxury suite with a large balcony, I was very pleased with the suite. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant. The food was average but I think definitely more selection needed. The morning view is really pretty at Maria's however can be quite chilly. I guess this is why they supply blankets. We were always greeted by Edgar @ Maria's, he's a terrific guy. We definitely looked to see him every morning! On the other hand, BEWARE when planning your trip online!!!! It was deceptive about all inclusive. I was totally blindsided with this situation when arriving. It eventually worked itself out but my first day I was completely annoyed. The first guy wasnt helpful but the following day the lady @ the front desk connected us to resolve the problem. She was very helpful and understanding.

From Manuel as the bellman supervisor to Wendy the hostess and Regimberto (I am sure I did not spell that correctly) and Sebastian at phase 3 pool, the staff is the most friendly, attentive and efficient group of employees we have come across in a while. Our 2 bedroom suite was very nice with an awesome view of the ocean. Our phrase for the trip was "This does not suck!" The bathtub/shower combination in the master bath was a little odd, so we just used the spare bathroom to shower. Although we never met our housekeeper, Ana she did an great job. I could go on and on about the wait staff , Ceasar, Gustova, Felix and Giovania were all so very great! The food however was hit or miss. Breakfast was good and the Il Fornia grill was good , but Barrola and Las Riscos were just ok. We did the all inclusive which includes some restaurants on the Golden Zone in the Marina. We ate at Jack's it is a steakhouse, had we tried this earlier in the week we might have eaten there every night. Jorge our waiter was the best!!! I would not recommend this for anybody that is a late night party animal, the bars close at 10:00p, and there isn't anything else in walking distance . The last shuttle from the marina comes back at 10:30. But for us it was great.

This is the 2nd time we stayed at this resort. The 1st time was back in May when we did a timeshare exchange, and we loved it so much, we decided to go back 4 months later with a bigger group of friends, again doing a timeshare exchange. The service, food & drinks are always top rate! The all-inclusive plan is the only way to go since they have so many amazing restaurants and bars on site, as well as the additional ones in the marina, the in-room daily beverage restock, and the shuttle to/from the sister property at the marina. From the moment they greet you on arrival, you feel like royalty. Zuri, Joel & Arturo at the front desk were so very helpful when we had a couple little snags with our rooms that needed to be worked out (nothing to the fault of the resort). All the guys driving around in the carts are always so friendly and offer to give you a ride anywhere you need to go within the resort (since it is a large and hilly property, this comes in handy sometimes). The breakfast buffet staff (Felix, Jesus, Carlos, Alan, Wendy) are always so nice in the mornings. And finally, all the awesome food preparers, wait staff & bartenders at all 3 of the pool bars/restaurants... Billy, Juan, Ricardo, Nery, Cristian, Ulises, Sebastian, Carlos, Graciela, Francisco, Daniel, and Salvador (I hope I'm not forgetting anyone!). All of these people are smiling and proud of what they do. I did not write any of these names down... it's all by memory because of how enjoyable they made our trip! Last, but not least, Cabo got hit by a very under-reported Tropical Storm Lidia just 2 days before we got there and the whole area experienced horrible loss of life and extensive damage to buildings and roads. Many resort employees either got stranded at work or couldn't get to work at all for 4 or 5 days. The resort put them up in rooms so they would have somewhere to stay, and there were several places (mainly pool #1 right along the cliffs) where outside contractors were brought in to do repairs. They had almost everything operational by the time we left 9 days later. It is truly a testament of how well-managed they are, and what great teamwork they have.

Ordered food and drinks three times and after an hour, they still never brought them to us. Room service always got our order wrong. The guy who brought the food to our room, spilt the orange juice and then just left. He never cleaned it up or called to have someone do it. He just left it all over the floor. The room has mold on the walls and bathroom exhaust vent. This resort let us down on our honeymoon.

Annual Labor Day trip once again impacted by bad weather. Thanks to the wonderful Staff for getting the Resort ready so quickly. Special mention goes to the following employees: Bartender Cristan for outstanding poolside service. Ana Gill in Customer Service is Excellent. Maria Baranda in Member Services. Raul and Joel at the Front Desk. Beautiful resort in a great service. Always ready to return.
