Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa feels secluded, even though it’s still considered part of Cabo’s Marina Golden Zone. At the far end of the area’s development, quiet, tranquil beaches await, and a string of infinity pools cascade down the resort’s hillside. Hacienda’s traditional Mexican-style suites start at 800 square feet – book a Family Suite for twice that much space – and are outfitted in earth tones with handcrafted furniture and textiles from Guadalajara. Guests who want to venture afield can enjoy their all-inclusive privileges at Golden Zone restaurants, accessible by complimentary shuttle.

As the sun washes over the property’s Spanish Colonial architecture, wake up with a plate of Albaņil-style eggs with salsa and corn tortillas. Walk along the beach and keep an eye out for dolphins cresting the waves. Cleanse the mind and body during a traditional Temazcal ceremony, where water infused with medicinal herbs steams from piping-hot rocks. Sip top-shelf tequila on an open-air patio as the day fades into night.

We love HE. Two years ago we visited with our kids, this year we came alone. We could not be happier with our experience. Everything was wonderful. The food, staff, rooms, amenities are 5 star. The food was better this year than the first visit and we felt we had more options. The staff is very friendly and we had wonderful service at all meals and at the spa. We recommend this location for someone looking for a quieter vacation. This is not a party hotel, and that's exactly what we wanted. La Trajinera has amazing food and we loved the views of the ocean at all of our meals. The new phase pool with Il Forno is also a great place to spend and afternoon. The drinks and service were amazing. Our room was overlooking the infinity pool and we had no issues with noise late at night. The beach beds are often visited by the iguanas, so keep an eye on your french fries. Loved it, will go again.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary here and it was amazing! This hotel is off the path and not crowded at all. We had no problem getting service. The waitstaff are outstanding! Billy W at Il Forno was attentive, friendly and personable. I was wanting dessert which this restaurant doesn't have so he went to another restaurant and got me some!! He will tell you why he's named Billy! Giovanni is a server at Los Riscos. He was so cheerful and funny. We loved talking with him so much, we returned the next night! Ask him also how he got his name! All of the employees are so friendly. Every single person walks by and smiles. We will definitely come back!

Ok. This is purely bias. We fell in love with this resort 10 years ago and we have been coming every year for 10 years. This is a great property for a family vacation. Great food. Really nice views. The shuttle to the harbor is always convenient. The near by golf course at Cabo Del Sol is awesome!

The accommodations are ok (nothing luxurious), but the bathroom sinks/mirrors in the newest building are mounted so high that children and shorter adults cannot use them without the aid of a stool or have to stand on tiptoes. Even the resort rooms have a small refrigerator in them, but they are already full with beverages and you are charged for every item contained within (water included) as seemingly nothing is complimentary at the resort; they will even charge you if you do not produce all of your room keys and towel keys at check-out. A small coffee maker is provided but you are out of luck if you are a tea drinker as no tea bags are provided, nor is any type of creamer substance. The location is nice if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Cabo, but unless you have rented a car, it can be expensive to get around and you are at the mercy of the on-site restaurants that are overpriced and are of average quality. The hotel offers a shuttle into town, but it costs $5 pp/one-way. Kudos to the staff though as they are accommodating and most of them genuinely seem to want to be of assistance to make your stay enjoyable, but a special shout-out for Bell Boy Roman Roman as he always greeted us with the biggest smile and best demeanor while we waited to retrieve our car. The property is not level so expect to do a lot of walking up and down hills unless you call for a golf cart.

My girlfriend and I booked a trip through Groupon Getaways to stay at Marina Fiesta Resort. Once in Cabo, on our arrival at Marina Fiesta, we were told that the resort was booked full, and that we were being moved to the sister property, Hacienda Encantada. We arrived at Hacienda Encantada and got booked into a room easily enough. IMMEDIATELY after being booked into a room, we were sat down by a different person to ask if we'd be willing to attend a timeshare presentation. No thanks, and off we go to our room. We got into the room and were less than thrilled with it, to say the least. It seemed as if we got booked into a lesser room than what we had reserved (ha) at Marina Fiesta. The floor was so dirty that our bare feet were black after 5 minutes of walking around in the room. There were little black flies everywhere, and the shower leaked under the door so bad that there was a small lake in the bathroom and toilet area after every shower. One of the curtain rods was completely detached from the curtain itself, and the other was bent so badly that you could not fully close the blackout shades. We were not told that certain restaurants closed on certain nights. The shuttle between the two resorts only runs every 2 hours, which does not allow you to go to the main property at Marina Fiesta and fully relax...you have to worry about what time you'll catch the shuttle, and if they'll have space for you. Even though I bought the all inclusive package, room service was not included (though you do get 40% off of it), nor were certain "premium" alcohol and liquors. I do have to say the food was decent, though God help you if you didn't buy the "all inclusive" package...the tab will run away VERY fast. We were also told that the gratuities were included as part of the all inclusive, but had 2-3 occasions where the wait staff hung around after we'd signed the bill (I've NEVER had to sign a bill at a resort before when it was meant to be all inclusive) and asked us if we were going to leave more tip or not. All in all, would I stay here again? Probably. But I'd be going into it with my eyes open. If you're thinking about booking here as your first time, I would consider booking elsewhere.
