Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa feels secluded, even though it’s still considered part of Cabo’s Marina Golden Zone. At the far end of the area’s development, quiet, tranquil beaches await, and a string of infinity pools cascade down the resort’s hillside. Hacienda’s traditional Mexican-style suites start at 800 square feet – book a Family Suite for twice that much space – and are outfitted in earth tones with handcrafted furniture and textiles from Guadalajara. Guests who want to venture afield can enjoy their all-inclusive privileges at Golden Zone restaurants, accessible by complimentary shuttle.

As the sun washes over the property’s Spanish Colonial architecture, wake up with a plate of Albaņil-style eggs with salsa and corn tortillas. Walk along the beach and keep an eye out for dolphins cresting the waves. Cleanse the mind and body during a traditional Temazcal ceremony, where water infused with medicinal herbs steams from piping-hot rocks. Sip top-shelf tequila on an open-air patio as the day fades into night.

When my five friends and I decided to go to Hacienda Encantada, I had a tough time finding out about the timesharing aspect of the resort. I hope this review will make it easier for those who have the same questions I had. The first thing was to find transportation from the airport and back at the end of the week. There were 5 of us arriving at the same time and 5 leaving at the end of the week. After checking around a lot, I found Cabo Shuttle Services. We arranged for a private shuttle. They were right on time picking us up and the total for all 5 of us was $75 USD. Because it was a round trip the return was only $65. One note about that. Hacienda Encantada will only make shuttle reservations on certain days. I strongly recommend you book your round-trip shuttle before arriving. One of our group had to scramble to get a ride back to the airport on Friday. Cabo Shuttle services toll free # is 877-985-0022 and the Los Cabos office number is (634) 120 1124. I highly recommend them! We were in one of the 2 bedroom Presidential units in Building 2. We had a lovely view of the ocean and overlooked "The Green" and El Eden, the tequila bar. On the one bedroom side, the bedroom had a king bed, a lounger and a full bath including a Jacuzzi tub. The living area had a full bathroom (sans Jacuzzi), 2 hall closets, and a full kitchen. The kitchen had 4 stove top burners, a microwave/convection oven and a full sized refrigerator. There was a dining room table with enough chairs for all of us and a fold out queen sofa-bed. The bedroom and living room shared a balcony and we were able to fit all six of us and the two tables into one area. The studio side was a lock-off with double doors, just like a hotel. It had a full bath also including a Jacuzzi. There were two queen beds, a partial kitchen with two burners, a microwave and a full sized refrigerator. It also had a table that would seat 4 for dining in. It had a private patio, separated from the other balcony. Neither unit had a garbage disposal or dishwasher. Housekeeping changed the sheets every day! They also did a pretty full cleaning, including doing the dishes if we left any in the sink. There was an $8 a day charge for housekeeping on the bill at the end of the week. The only thing we had a small problem with was predicting when they'd arrive to clean. With 6 of us in the room coming and going, I think it was hard for them to tell when it would be okay to clean. By the end of the week we'd figured out how to alert them when it was convenient to come into the rooms to clean. There were 8 places to eat on site plus 1 little market with a limited selection of food. If you were planning on eating out most of the time, the market was enough for snacks and such. They do offer all inclusive if you want it, but we were going to do most of our breakfasts and lunches in the condo and opted out of the all inclusive. Someone in our group ate at 6 of the 8. Barolo was the only one we were dissatisfied with. I'd heard very good things about them so maybe it was just an off night. We went to WalMart to shop for the week. It cost $20-25 each way for the taxi but it was well worth it. If you're not fluent in Spanish, you might want to bring a Spanish dictionary. There is also a Costco in the area but we didn't go there. We had to be a little creative with the stuff in the kitchens when we were cooking, but managed anyway. We let them sort out what needed to go back to the other kitchen after we left. There is a laundry room in building 2. It costs $4 per wash and $4 per dry. It only takes US quarters. They run a shuttle between Hacienda Encantada and their sister resort Marina Fiesta on the Marina in Cabo San Lucas. It leaves Hacienda Encantada every two hours starting at 8:00 am with the last run at 10:00 pm. It returns from Marina Fiesta on the half hour (8:30, 10:30, etc. with the last trip back at 10:30 pm). Marina Fiesta is close enough to downtown to easily walk there. Service through-out the resort was great. It's huge, but they have golf carts that take you from place to place if it's too far to walk. We simply called the front desk when we wanted one and it was usually downstairs within 5 minutes. If you have a large group like us, you might want to tell them how many need to be picked up. One of us rode on the luggage rack when all six of us called for a shuttle at the same time. One other caution, if you're going uphill and have anything on the luggage rack, be sure it's wedged in well. One bag fell off when heading back up to the lobby for the final flight. No harm done, just a note. We would definitely go back. If anyone has additional questions I can answer, just let me know.

Hacienda Encantada was absolutely fantastic, from our room to the food, ambiance and staff. I have nothing bad to say and can't wait to go back. So relaxing and beautiful. The pool wait staff was outstanding and friendly. The concierge and front desk were very helpful and answered all our questions. Transportation to surrounding area was available and affordable.

Amazing is all that should be said!!! The property is maintained meticulously nothing short of 5 star service. We are currently staying in phase 2 top floor. The view and our room is gorgeous. The adult only pool is seriously heaven on earth if you are traveling without children. The food is great and the portions are huge. Shout out to our favorite pool bartender Sebastian!!! Im not much of a drinker but these drinks are delicious. We don't ever wanna leave.

This is our second time going to Hacienda Encantada. We came about 4 years ago previously and we loved it so much decided to come back. Back 4 years ago they had only 2 phases (buildings) but now they 3 and many more phases to come. We had the all inclusive package (highly recommend if you plan on staying in the resort the whole time and or drinking). With the all inclusive you can eat and drink anywhere in the resort as well as some restaurants in downtown Los Cabos. The staff at Hacienda Encantada are top notched. Super friendly and nice. Cesar by phase 3 pool was my favorite. He likes to dance and have a good time while at work. Plus he was quick and friendly. Food was as amazing as I had remembered. We went to the Italian restaurant and I had the lobster/shrimp ravioli (literally drooling thinking about it). Also had the cannoli. I highly recommend the Italian place. We also loved going to the poolside restaurants for lunch and had both the pizza place and the taco place for lunch. I love the shrimp tacos at phase 1 restaurant. The ONLY problem we had with the resort is that some of the clientele the resort has attracted in the past has changed. 4 years ago everyone was very friendly and nice but now that they have a lot more timeshare "owners" I find the clientele to be more entitled and just kind of rude to people who are not "owners" and even to the staff. But I guess that's not something the staff or hotel can really control much of. Overall great place to stay. If you want that true Mexican feel and not some Americanized resort I highly recommend.
