I experienced my first vacation week (Nov 9 to 16) at Playa Grande Resort @Solmar and it won’t be my last. I arrived early 11:15 am and received excellent checkin service from Cristina. I was able to upgrade from Junior suite to Master Suite (1 bedroom)with excellent views from living room and bedroom. Although checkin is much later in the day, I was lucky and my unit was ready at approximately 12:30 to 12:45pm. Thank you to hard working staff. My 7 day stay was so relaxing with great food and service from restaurant, pool and housekeeping staff. Although the resort has some ongoing construction, it was minimally noticeable and in no way affected my relaxation. The resort pool areas are arranged to allow a nice ambiance and separation from lively areas vs quieter areas based on preference. I was able to observe whale activity from my balcony and beachside while relaxing. Restaurant reviews and spa review reflected separately on TripAdvisor. All food and service were great as was spa experience. I would have arranged another spa visit but my cough prevented this. Bibi convinced me to attend timeshare presentation in exchange for $300 credit towards food with option for another $100 for cost of $60 and discounts on massages. This was a good deal for me as I’m not a big drinker and only eat twice per day, so I never do all inclusive. Sharon and Greg handled my resort tour, breakfast and ownership discussions without being too pushy. I enjoyed our general conversations. The Mexican celebration night was fun but I did not attend beach party. I contracted a virus (cough being most annoying part) on approx day 4 and used the on-site doctor who then prescribed various over the counter medications for symptoms which I chose to have delivered to my room as I was traveling alone. The doctor cost $150 cash and pharmacy accepted credit card. This was reasonable for me to handle everything in house and I have filed claim on my travel insurance. I always maintain travel insurance in event of such situations. I had an additional 10 days remaining on vacation ( 7 days at different resort ) so I wanted to get assistance early in this illness. The medical staff provided medical notes in English and brought paperwork and escorted pharmacy to my room. Resort transportation was great choice and immediately available upon arrival with only myself in the Expedition for shared shuttle price. I will be returning to this resort.

There are so many reasons to love Playa Grande - the location, the almost private beach, the quiet (if you choose quiet), but it's the people who work there that make it so wonderful. Everyone is kind and helpful. In fact, on our last night there, my husband tripped on the sidewalk outside and people came running to help. It wasn't a bad fall and everything is ok, but they treated it properly and offered medical care, a wheelchair, a bag of ice, etc. I don't know all of their names, but got Rafael's name as he stayed with us the longest. He was professional and kind. Thank you to all of you!

I had an amazing two weeks at this resort. The pool service that Daniel provided was awesome! After the first day he remembered my drink of choice (tea with 2 Splenda). His service, was impressive and does it every day with a smile! But it didn’t stop there. David and Jose were my waiters in the morning for breakfast again every morning with a smile on their faces and my drink order ready!! (Watermelon juice). The entertainment staff did a fantastic job of trying to keep me busy with anything from water aerobics, beach volleyball, pool volleyball and card games as well as many other things I probably forgot!! Amime and Jhaire were absolutely the best!! Roberto did wonderful at the Mexican festival! On my last night I ate at Brigiten on the beach. Jorge was our waiter and did just as good as the rest of the team. This whole place was the perfect spot for my vacation. I will be back!

We recently visited Playa Grande for the first time and had a great experience! Our room was at the Ridge, which had its own pools, swim up bar and full pool-side service. We spent one full day lounging at the Ridge pools which are absolutely gorgeous. We spent another full day at the lower complex of pools. There are activities, games and more food options which we liked just as much as the Ridge, just different! (Miriam was our server and she was phenomenal). The entire resort is absolutely gorgeous, beautifully maintained, the staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The only negative was our dinner at the Brigantine Steak House which is marketed as their higher end dining experience. The restaurant setting is gorgeous and the staff are gracious. Service was very slow, which might have been due to understaffing. Steamed mussels were served cold with a weird sticky white sauce. Oysters Florentine were also brought cold/undercooked. Steaks were flavorful but quite overcooked. It was difficult to flag down staff for things like salt/pepper, water refills, more wine. Regardless of the Brigantine, we had a fantastic stay and will definitely be back!
