Reviews for Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa

Pleasantly surprised

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 19 hours ago

Only there for a day before we had access to the house we were staying at in Cabo. Honestly, didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. We were upgraded to one of the new suites which was very nice. Have a few things to work out like the phone in the room not being connected and with lots of construction going on got lost finding our room a few times. With the construction, I think in a few months it will all be spectacular. Staff was very friendly and the views were amazing. Would definitely come back.

This place will EXCEED your expectations.

I have been staying at Playa Grande for 2 weeks at the end of January every year for the last 7 years and despite being an extremely critical person have to admit that this place never ceases to consistently deliver a superior experience in EVERY way... the rooms are always very clean and well kept. The housekeeping staff is extremely gracious and accomodating. The check in experience is always pleasant and professional and despite there always being a line to check in ( I always arrive on a Saturday) the Front Desk is always well staffed and the line moves briskly. The pools are cleaned each morning and kept in great shape. Despite the overwhelming number of people and activities at the pool, they have never once run out of towels. The premises is always well manicured and kept in top notch shape. The food is always top notch, but I cannot recommend the Pizza on Italian Night... its just not their thing. The Lasagna was surprisingly excellent though... the Spa is excellent if your looking for a Massage or Facial and the Gym is open 24/7. I would also like to give special recognition to Angelo who was working the Front Desk when I had to change rooms after my first week to another room, and despite a glitch caused by the owner that I rented from that second week, Angelo straightened it out and made it right ! Kudos to whoever runs Playa Grande... you got a really good thing going ! Lets keep it that way !

Good location and very nice

Very nice resort, courteous and very friendly service. The rooms are large and comfortable, with great balconies and nice views. The maid service excellent. It is close to the harbor and town, about a 15 min walk. We did it many times during the day to explore town and again in the evening to a restaurant. The concierge will make reservations (which I would recommend) for you at any restaurant in town.

Great Location on the marina

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Playa Grande is built right into the rock and natural landscape so there are various levels to negotiate by foot in some areas. That said, it is a beautiful resort. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location right on the marina is very convenient and within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and night life. We will definitely return.

Wonderful Resort, but Consider Waiting Until Renovations Are Complete

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We’ve stayed at this resort before and have always genuinely loved it, which makes this review especially disappointing to write. There is still so much to like here. The staff are consistently warm, attentive, and professional, and the service truly stands out. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained, the pools are fantastic for families, and the daily activities and events are thoughtfully planned and fun for all ages. The standard meal plan is also a good value (though I would skip the paid upgrades, which didn’t feel worth the cost). That said, our most recent stay was significantly impacted by the ongoing renovations. Our room had a persistent sewer odor that, at times, felt unhealthy and made it difficult to fully relax. We also experienced intermittent electrical outages, likely tied to construction work. While we absolutely understand that improvements require temporary disruption, these issues went beyond minor inconvenience and directly affected our comfort. What was most disappointing, however, was the lack of response from management. I made several attempts to discuss the problems during our stay but received no meaningful follow-up. That was surprising given the otherwise strong service culture we’ve experienced here in the past. I truly believe this resort will be fantastic again once renovations are complete — the foundation is absolutely there. But for now, prospective guests may want to consider waiting until construction wraps up to fully enjoy what this property has to offer. We look forward to returning when everything is finished.
