The Good: Exceptional Staff Our 13th year visiting Playa Grande Resort reminded us exactly why we love this property: the people. Special shout-out to the following staff members who provided fantastic service during our stay: Elias, Hector, JC, Jaime, and Miriam Jorge (Brigantine) Jose (The Ridge) Jose (Calima) The Bad: Drastic Meal Plan Price Hikes As long-time patrons, we expect gradual price increases, but this year’s jump was dramatic. The daily per-person rate rose from $115 in November to $141 in February. Paying this new permanent rate while still facing menu restrictions (such as only getting 50% off surf & turf) feels like a poor value. At $141 per day, all menu items should be fully included. If this rate remains, we will strongly reconsider the meal plan on future trips which we usually purchase for the duration of our stays. The Ugly: Understaffed Karaoke Night at the Lobby Bar We were thrilled to see a karaoke night added, but the execution was highly disappointing. Per staff instructions, we waited at the bar for a table, only to watch multiple open tables get handed to newly arrived guests. Once seated, it took 15 minutes to be greeted and another 30 minutes for food to arrive. The resort clearly failed to adequately staff the venue for this event. Conclusion We urge Solmar and Playa Grande management to reconsider the permanent meal plan rate and fix the staffing organization at the Lobby Bar so the dining and entertainment match the high quality of the staff.

I don’t remember both of their names but these two ladies were in the restaurant every morning and were the nicest people (one lady was named Anahi)! They cracked jokes, taught us some Spanish, and were very personable. They even remembered each of us so when one wasn’t there they asked where we were. Those two ladies were just overall just great people. I loved talking with them and I looked forward to eating breakfast every morning because of them!!
