We, along with a couple of friends who had never been, stayed at the Playa Grande the week of 8/5-8/12. Although we had reserved two 1-Bedroom Master Suites upon check-in we were offered an oceanfront 2-Bedroom “Penthouse” which after a brief discussion we accepted (the “Penthouse was actually a first-floor unit – room 2055). The young lady who checked us in was very professional she did fail to mention that one of the two bedrooms had two double beds which we discovered once we arrived at the unit. The bellman that brought our luggage to the room asked if the unit was satisfactory to which we asked if the two double beds could be put together to which he advised he would talk to the front desk folks and someone would get back to us….. which unfortunately never happened. My wife and I just decided to take that room and allow our guests to have the master-suite. The views from the unit were fantastic. When at the resort we stayed at the adult pool area overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The service we received there throughout the week was FANTASTIC. The servers we had, Daniel & Fernando, were GREAT. Constantly checking on us and even bringing our drinks directly to us in the pool. Although we had told our friends about the excellent service we had always had at the Playa Grande they were amazed at the pool-side service. Calima is great but we were disappointed by was the removal of breakfasts from Brigantine. We always enjoyed the beautiful views from Brigantine in the morning and were sorry that was no longer an option. As far as the breakfast at Calima, it was very good all week. Cirilo (sp?) was a great server and we always tried to sit in the area he was working. One place we found not up to its regular standards was the Sports Bar (Lobby Bar). We went there the first night we were there (Sat 8/5) and there weren’t any available tables. We were told if we would like we could order some drinks and sit near the TVs at the far end and would be notified when a table became available…which we did. After waiting about 20-25 minutes we saw a table open up and subsequently given away to a party that had literally just walked up. I pointed this out to our server, who was the one who gave the table away, and was told he had forgotten and apologized. About 10 minutes later another table opened up and we were seated accordingly. Once seated we were forewarned that it was taking roughly 45 minutes for food orders – this isn’t something we had ever experienced at the Sports Bar before. The food, once received, was very good. The handful of wait-staff were really hustling and it seemed as if they were understaffed for a Saturday evening. We did eat at Puerto San Lucas on that Monday and Friday (Lobster Night). On Monday, we were one of 3 tables being occupied and it took an extremely long time to be served. Additionally, it was extremely warm in the restaurant that evening. Friday’s service was a lot better. The food on both occasions was very good. Everyone had a great trip and we look forward to our next stay at the Playa Grande.

We had another wonderful two weeks at Playa Grande. Both of our kids loved the resort. The entertainment staff was great, especially Itzel. She made my daughter feel so welcomed. We opted for the all inclusive plan during our second week. We thought it was a great value, especially with two kiddos. Our favorite restaurant was Puerto San Lucas. The food was great and Alejandra, our waitress, was simply wonderful. She's the reason we went back two more times! Thanks Itzel and Alejandra for making our stay so memorable. We hope to see you when we return to Playa Grande!

One of the best resorts we have visited. Location in downtown Cabo San Lucas is wonderful everything is within walking distance. The concierge takes care of everything for you. We stayed at the ridge and there are two infinity pools immediately below and outside our room. 1 pool faced the marina and the Sea of Cortez in the other pool face the Pacific Ocean. there are many other pools in the lower part of the resort we went there a couple of times but the views at the pool on the ridge we're by far more impressive. We only had food at the resort one evening during our stay, the rest of the nights we cooked in our room or went out. Kitchen facilities you know our room, all of facilities in our room, more impressive. We love their stay will gladly recommend it to anybody

Playa Grande is one of the nicest resorts we have stayed in as part of the RCI network. The 1 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite was comfortable and well appointed. The staff did a great job of keeping the place neat, clean and replenished. The grounds were kept in excellent condition. The pool area was where we spent most of our time and Daniel at the pool bar did a great job attending to all our drink and food needs. The chairs near the adult-only pool overlooking the beach gave the feeling of being on the beach, which is unswimmable, while only a few steps from refreshment in the pool. Playa Grande is not a place that pumps you full of cheap alcohol and food just to keep you onsite. The food and drink at Playa Grande are quality and the prices reflect it. Don't expect to come here for a cheap Mexico experience. However, you get what you pay for and we were NOT disappointed. There are plenty of dining and entertainment options either within walking distance or a $10 cab ride. All the tourist traps are nearby as well as some fine dining options. Playa Grande's location puts you in easy reach of whatever food or activities you could want. Our objective was to spend the week in Cabo San Lucas relaxing and recharging. Playa Grande was the perfect place to realize our objectives and have a good time doing it.

Playa Grande is right off the marina within walking distance of several restaurants and activities. It couldn't be better located; just off the beaten path, but within walking distance of the beaten path. The staff was great, very friendly. The rooms are very nice with great views. The resort pools are OK, nothing special about them, but nice. It would be great if the ocean was swimmable, but too rough. I'd give the place five stars if it wasn't for a few things. First, there's someone around every corner tying to get you to attend a timeshare presentation. We actually did the presentation, and the sales people were super nice, of course, until they realized we weren't going to buy. Second, there are some cool amenities on the resort, but they are expensive. $10 to putt around on the 9-hole mini golf course, or $25 to use the wifi. Maybe this is standard for these types of resorts, but I know some offer free wifi. Lastly, and this might not be a big deal to some, but it didn't sit well with me. When we got there, our fridge wasn't working, but we didn't realize that for hours after putting some groceries in it. The hotel reimbursed us the cost of the groceries, but not the $30 round-trip taxi ride to go back to the store. I thought that would have gone a long way. Would I stay there again? Yes. Cabo is a fun town, and there's no place more conveniently located, relative to the city and the marina. But I'll probably see what else is out there first.
