Nice but LOUD

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

Very nice hotel with excellent food service and views. It is also an event center almost every night. If you want EXTREMELY loud ear splitting music rattling the windows throughout the facility with strobe lights and all flashing, this is your place. If you want to sleep, find another place.

Best place to stay in Egypt I think

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

My wife and I came here for a 3 night stay recently and it was close to a perfect stay. We stayed in a partial pyramid view room and it could not be faulted but you are paying for it but it’s worth it to be waking up to the pyramid views each morning and seeing them lit up at night (not every night though). The hotel itself is in very good condition but what sets it apart are the grounds which are expansive and keeps the outside world well away and hidden. I would say the hotel sits on over 19 acres and you have access to it all. We also enjoyed club access and although I was looking forward to this part of the stay, the club itself is quite small but decorated very well. The food items are a bit hit n miss but the desserts are very good. The wines and beers on offer could include some international brands to keep it interesting as the local brands are not enjoyable though we did find a reasonable red wine (Cabernet Merlot) which was better than any beer or white wine on offer. The room was very clean and a good size with a nice balcony. The bathroom although functional could get an upgrade as I’m not a lover of showers within a bath and this one was quite narrow. The bed itself was a joy to sleep in with lovely sheets and duvets. The staff were very good and attentive especially in the lounge. The only blemish I had was with checkin when they processed my initial holding payment that they processed twice and although they apologised and contacted their bank to reverse this second charge, it is still sitting on my credit card (pending) a week later. I’m confused why a merchant (bank) cannot somehow cancel this and avoid these issues. This left a sour taste for me. But still, the best hotel in Cairo/Giza 100%.

Great Classic Hotel... upfront payment problems

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Mena House is really the epitome of classic 5 star hotels and has a lot to offer. They got off to a bad start. I booked on the Marriott website as an elite member, with a normal credit card guarantee. A couple of weeks later, they emailed on a Sunday saying they were going to cancel my reservation if they didn't receive full payment upfront for the stay by wire transfer on the following day. This was inconvenient to say the least. Besides concern about email scams, tourists are not accustomed to doing international wires so I have no idea how they work this. As we are a business and send international wires every day we were able to do it, albeit a few days late that didn't seem to bother them. The problem is that in Egypt credit card guarantees don't work, as I learned later. On checkin, however, I experienced old fashioned 5 star personal service all the way. The room was beautiful, with balcony overlooking the pyramids. It's expensive ... but I can't fault the quality at all. I would return.

Great view of Pyramids

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Beautiful secured property with an amazing view of the pyramids. The food in the outdoor restaurant was very good. The in-room breakfast was delivered fast and very tasty. This property is huge and well done. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I wish the gift shop was in the main hotel as I needed medicine and eye drops. You have to walk a bit of way to reach the shop.
