Reviews for Tamburlaine
Just had 2 nights at this relatively new hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. The staff were extremely helpful. The bar area had plenty of seating and was well stocked. Parking onsite would have been easier but the station car park is only round the corner.

The Steam Cafe is on the ground floor of the hotel, and looks nice a nice place to stop for a quick coffee before catching your train. The decor, like the rest of the hotel, is fantastic, with white marble tables, neon art on the walls, and a beautiful tiled floor. However, the food and service here are a poor tribute to what is a beautiful space to eat. The barista was friendly enough, but unprofessional and painstakingly slow. He kindly offered to get dressing for the caesar salad that I ordered, but I did not realise that this would mean he would go all the way to the main hotel kitchen to get it, leaving the bar unattended, and my partner waiting for quite a while to finally give his order. I don't entirely understand why our orders weren't taken at the same time, since it was the obvious and simple thing to do. Other small things made the experience here overly-complicated: the sandwich display had no labels on, meaning you had to guess what they were; the tables had no sugar or salt + pepper on them; and I was not even offered cutlery for my salad...and when I eventually got it, the spoon and fork were plastic, despite all the other cafe crockery being solid china.
We visit Cambridge quite often and as our usual Hotel was fully booked decided to give the new kid in town a try. Overall it’s a very pleasant hotel though there are still signs that it is not yet the finished article. Others have reviewed in depth. I will summarise what for me were the key positives and areas to improve Firstly it has a wonderfully unique modern feel. So many new hotels have a cookie cutter approach to design and layout. This feels different. The bedrooms are spacious which I appreciated and the most important feature (the bed) was unbelievably comfortable The web site makes it clear there is no parking but an hotel of this stature should provide valet parking (Hotel du Vin does). The entrance/ streetscape is a bit stark. This will obviously improve when the construction opposite is completed. How about some plants outside the front door? Breakfast is a very odd set up. Choose either a very poor buffet with hot items in a temporary arrangement or from an excellent menu with contemporary choices (avocado was delicious) Finally, the web site needs to make it clear the affiliation with Preferred Hotels and the reception staff need to know too. Giving my iPrefer number on departure was a challenge A great addition to the Cambridge hotel scene. I’m sure we will be back

I stayed here for a work trip, and had a great experience. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and modern. The breakfast service was fast and offered a wide range of choices, and the kitchen was able to cater for a gluten free diet. The hotel is located just outside station, excellent catching transport in and out of the city.
Met a friend here for drinks at the bar and dinner. Great range of cocktails and other drinks, and brilliant service from the bar tenders. Food was also very good with extremely friendly and attentive waiting staff. Decor and general ambience was lovely. We had a really lovely evening here and I returned the following week based on this experience.
