A Living Nightmare Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

A Living Nightmare! I have spent 4 months, and between 9 & 10 hours on the phone with Casa Turquesa and Hotels.com, trying to understand, without any notice or expination, why my online Hotel.com, canceled my reservation months ago just as I was about to head to the airport. Hotels.com came to the rescue, but the hotel is incompetent and evil.

Beautiful views, decent stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

This is an older place but really beautiful. The room's definitely need an upgrade and our outdoor hot tub did not work. The pools are ice cold but you got used to it after a while. I wish there was a hot tub. The restaurant was decent but I wouldn't recommend it everyday you are there. I felt very secure being here and they have gated security. The mall is right next door. We walked down to the beach and it was great and got to relax. They had little cabana loungers available for hotel guests too. I wish they would have had hotel waiters taking drink orders but there was nobody to be seen. Beach was clean. There is a lot of interesting artwork everywhere. There was a sculpture of a naked woman in the lobby area and my young son saw it, I would move it somewhere else. This is not an all inclusive but there was a swim up bar. The walk up to the lobby area is a little bit dangerous as the cobblestone has many digits and some bricks are loose. Overall, we had a decent stay for what it's worth and we made the best of it.

One of a kind, aging property, still a good value

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

Well, this is a unique property , part art museum part beach mansion . Was quite the place back in the day that has slowly lost a lot of charm but still good value figuring it’s on the main beach strip . Friendly staff, convenient & ok restaurant and facilities. Just bummed that our reservation made months early on Expedia, was “lost” and had to be charged more for different but same room category. Also had to prove deposit paid ! Really ? Watch out for over or mystery charges too. Lots of the property’s services and rooms, buildings look like closed for some time . I’m sure they’re struggling with competition from the big new glossy resorts but still , the owner could bring back the glory with the right management and interest.

Quiet, intimate, faded glory

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 11 months ago

At some point in it's history, this was probably a very glamorous hotel. Glimpses of that glamour still exist, but it is chipped, faded and well worn around the edges. Still, it has much to offer. If you're looking for 5-star luxury, this place isn't for you. There is no room service, no coffee maker, no complimentary water bottles, no hair dryer, the towels are cheap and don't always match and the whole place could use a paint job and general repair. But it does have charm, and the quiet location offers easy access to shopping, transportation and activities. The restaurant, though basic, has a stunning view of the sea and the food, though basic, is cheap and good, served with a friendly smile. The private beach is small and generally very quiet, studded with palapas for shade. The incredible art collection, displayed all over the property, gives the property a personal touch and makes this place a cross between a resort and a Bed 'n' Breakfast. I found the staff very friendly and very helpful. I'm completely uninterested in giant resorts and am more than happy to give up a few small amenities in exchange for a smaller, more relaxed, more intimate experience. Casa Turquesa, in all it's faded , chipped, rusted glory, suited me perfectly.

Elegante older building in prime location for calm and relaxing visit.

Excelente location and very charming hotel. We wanted something different than the synthetic feeling of a big resort. Yes, some remodeling and improvements are needed but this is a small family business. We would stay there again and we are generally fairly demanding in terms of quality and service. We loved the art work and decor!

My daughter and I had a wonderful 5 night stay at Casa Turquesa. The staff were so kind and friendly and made us feel like family. The room was spacious and beautiful and the pool and grounds were maintained immaculately. The hotel is so quiet and peaceful which is exactly what we were looking for. We would most definitely return again!

I purchased two Luxury Link deals for Casa Turquesa - my wife and I stayed in one room, while my daughter and best friend stayed in another. The small boutique hotel is located right on the beach, away from the crowds, noise and nightclubs. The suites are very opulent and all have a view of the pool and ocean. The fruit plate and bottle of tequila were a welcome treat upon arrival. The package we purchased was a bargain since it included all of the above as well as airport transfers and daily breakfast. I highly recommend Casa Turquesa if you are going to Cancun and want to get away from the crowds.
