I had a great time at this location. My best friend Kim did a great job when she booked this resort. Amazing view. Everyone super nice. Walking distance to clubs, restaurants, ferry etc. i received champagne & a birthday cake.

We have just returned after a week in Cancun. Our stay at Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach was great. We got our Pesos at our bank here in US before we left. After we boarded our plane we noticed some passengers with the custom form in hand given to them when they showed the boarding pass (we were not given one). We asked the flight attendant and were given the form, other passengers needed them too. You need one form per person. There is another custom form that you will need which is one per family. The flight attendant said we did not need that form, we did! We finally got one so all was good. Going through customs was easy, especially since we had all forms filled out and ready. There was a line (we arrived around 11AM) but it went quickly. The couple in front of us got a red light but we got green. We used Canada Transfers for transportation to and from resort. They were wonderful. They were waiting for us as soon as we got outside. They were around $50 for the private round trip for 3 people. I highly recommend them. We arrived at Grand Coral Beach around 12:30. We opted for Grand Club which is well worth the extra charge. We had private check in on the 12 floor. We were offered drink of our choice (we got Margaritas). Included in the Grand Club we were given a free 30 minute jet ski rental and free round trip ferry to Isla Mujeres. Also, with Grand Club the resort fee is waived (we also joined their rewards club before leaving, which also waives resort fee. We were allowed to go straight to our room even though we were a bit early.The tapas served all day were substantial and there is really no need to go any where else. Armano was the bartender/waiter and was wonderful!! Our oceanfront room was beautiful and spacious. Only suggestion is that with a 3rd person it would be nice to have a 3rd chair on the balcony. But that was not a big issue. We went to Isla Contoy for Mayan Coffee and it was a great show and very tasty. We did not get a meal there but everything looked great. There was a little seaweed on the beach but it was raked up every morning. Grand Club has a private beach area with cushioned lounge chairs and beds. There was always someone asking us if we needed anything, brought us water in an ice bucket and cool towels. There is no need to leave the resort if you do not want to. The day before we left we went to the 12 floor club room and they printed our boarding pass. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. We were never bothered by time share people. The resort is within walking distance to shopping and restaurants if you do want to venture out. Which we did...We spent one day in Isla Mujeres. We left on the first ferry at 9AM which is a very short walk for the resort. We rented a golf cart (be aware that they will hold on to your drivers license until you return. Spent the day driving around entire island. Came back on the next to last ferry around 3:45. ,

We just returned from 5 nights this hotel. It was very nice and I would definitely consider staying here again. We usually stay at the Ritz Carlton and wanted to try something in a different area. We were not disappointed. The hotel is clean and safe. It's located near several restaurants and grocery store. We had room service several times and the waiter was always very professional and the order didn't take more than 30 minutes to arrive. The did the tequila tasting and it was fun and informative. The Mexican buffet was also good. We had breakfast most mornings in La Joya and ordered off the menu. We didn't try the buffet although it looked amazing. The waiters around the pool and beach area were always friendly. Sometimes we had to wave one over and other days they were coming by frequently asking if we needed anything. We went to the spa and did hydrotherapy and then had massages. It was very relaxing. We also went to the gym every morning. The gym had fresh fruit, mini muffins, cookies, tea, coffee, and green juice, hibiscus water, chlorophyll water, and orange juice. Just a few things that were mild annoyances: I enjoyed the overview of the hotel when we checked in; however, it was really an introduction to get us to listen to a sales pitch about other vacations. I didn't make an appointment to go to the breakfast to listen to the sales pitch and was asked more than once why I didn't want to go. It's my vacation and I don't want to spend 90 minutes listening to something I have zero interest in purchasing. We had to walk by the vaction desk on our way to pool/beach and were stopped on another day and asked to make appointment for breakfast presentation. There wasn't any other way out to pool/beach (that I was aware) and I felt uncomfortable having to walk by the desk. I would also agree with previous posters about the concierge staff. They are aloof. I felt like I was bothering them and they were very uninterested in helping me. No smiles, very little eye contact, no "my pleasure to help you." Lastly, we asked for a 3:00 am wake-up call as we were being picked up at 3:25 am to go to the airport. We never got the wake-up call. We had set our phone alarms and fortunately that was enough. Overall everyone is extremely professional, welcoming, and helpful.

We just got home and would definitely go back to this hotel. Some of the positive things. The pool/beach/bar staff was excellent and attentive. In particular Lucero, Jose Luis and Vicente - super. We had the champagne breakfast buffet twice - perfect - the service and food were wonderful. At the buffet, we paid half price for my son's food due to age and my daughter was free. There is a kids menu offered in all restaurant and pool areas - this menu is free for kids. The location of the hotel was also ideal, close to everything. There was an awesome grocery store across the street that we went to every day for fresh food that you can eat there (tortas, pan dulce, coffee). The hotel is also near many restaurants and shopping areas. Our room was immaculate, maid service was excellent with morning clean up and evening turn-down service. Hotel was very clean, beautiful outside and inside. We had a private beach for this hotel. We felt safe with our young children (5 &12) Our 5 year old daughter went to Kids Club one of the days - she did not want to leave! The Kids Club had several activities for the kids and were very attentive. Our check in and check out experience was very pleasant. Only 2 bad experiences during our stay. First was our dinner at Isla Contoy (hotel restaurant)- the service was terrible. The waiter ignored us, we were not told about the additional food options until after we had eaten, we ordered chicken nuggets for my daughter and the waiter said there was a problem in the kitchen thirty minutes later. He apologized after we complained. Secondly, we got a call in our room from someone that we thought was hotel staff checking to see how we liked the hotel. (she was from the on-site vacation club). We told her we were interested in seeing some to the other room layouts for our next stay. Stupidly, we got roped into a sales presentation that was difficult to leave even after expressing our disinterest in the program. We were given dinner passes for sitting through the presentation and ultimately, we ended up not going to dinner there because we wanted to separate ourselves from that entire experience. We made a mistake by allowing that to be part of our day and learned from that. Overall,much more good than bad. We felt spoiled here, were still very pleased and would like to return. This hotel has a lot to offer for families as well as other types of groups.

We loved out stay at this wonderful hotel. Clean room, great view, good food at beach and pool area. The outside service by pool and beach was fantastic. The only thing we didn't like was the sales pitch for time share immediately after check in. After a long flight this is not how we want to start our vacation. Not a nice move by disguising it as an overview of the hotel. Also the checkout process asked for donations for a local charity, however we didn't see any pamphlets or documentation indicating the hotel had such an initiative. The checkout was early in the morning, so it felt more like a scam to pocket the donation by the counter agent.
