We booked this resort based on its high TripAdvisor rating and the promise of a premium all-inclusive experience. Instead, we left feeling shocked by the gap between the glowing reviews and what we actually encountered. For the amount we paid, this stay simply was not worth it, and we’ll be choosing a different premium all-inclusive such as Hyatt Ziva/Zilara for future vacations. ⸻ Pros • Thanksgiving dinner was genuinely great and one of the few standout meals. • Beach was beautiful and easily the highlight of the property. • VIP beach seating was a nice touch. • Gym had enough equipment (although it was noticeably dirty and not wiped down). • Filet at the steakhouse was surprisingly good. • Massage was excellent and the only time we felt truly cared for. ⸻ Cons Unfortunately, the cons outweighed the pros and significantly impacted our trip. • I became sick on day 3 with fever, chills, headache, and diarrhea for the remainder of the stay. From that point forward, we were uneasy about the food and sanitation overall and not convinced food safety is taken seriously here. • Drink service at the beach was inconsistent — sometimes arriving in 5 minutes, other times taking 30 minutes or more. • Premium liquors were not available, despite being advertised, and the “Patrón” tasted closer to Cuervo than anything top-shelf. • There was no VIP pool or reserved pool seating, which felt like a major miss at this price point. • Beach service for food was slow, with lunch often taking over an hour. • Thermostat and room temperature issues persisted throughout the stay, with multiple calls required just to get basic comfort. • Housekeeping didn’t remove glasses or alert room service to pick up trays — we had to contact them ourselves. • One night we were served an ice-cold, extremely rare/raw steak, adding to our food-safety concerns. • Bathrooms had no fans, the window didn’t close correctly, wind howled through it, and the room was hot as a result. • Restaurant reservation system was confusing. Some guests said they weren’t needed; others said they were. • Restaurants had no signs, so it was unclear what was what or where to eat. • The buffet was repetitive for lunch and dinner. • Our rooms (102 and 103) were described by staff as the “nicest rooms in the hotel,” but they were awkward, fragmented, and poorly laid out. • The overall hotel layout felt disjointed, and because of construction, guests were squished into a small outdoor area with limited space. • There were operational gaps in communication between staff. Front desk and concierge staff knew more about the weekly holiday plans than the “VIP” concierge team on the 11th floor. • We constantly felt like we had to put in effort to create a positive experience for ourselves, rather than the staff taking initiative to ensure one. • Ultimately, this did not feel like a frontline staff issue — many were trying. It felt more like poor management, poor controls, and a lack of training or oversight across departments. ⸻ Other Odd Experiences • They delivered a birthday cake for our daughter four days early, which made the gesture feel careless rather than thoughtful. • After raising concerns, the resort repeatedly sent champagne, chocolates, and the same apology message instead of fixing the issues we actually needed addressed. It ended up feeling insincere. ⸻ Final Thoughts We expected a polished, premium experience based on the high TripAdvisor rating and the price we paid. Instead, we found a resort with serious inconsistencies, poor operational oversight, questionable food safety, and a level of service nowhere near what is advertised. While there were a few bright spots, the overall experience left us disappointed and determined to look elsewhere next time. We hope management takes this feedback seriously — but for now, we’ll be choosing other premium all-inclusive options moving forward.

We went with our family of 9 and had a blast. We are all vegetarian and had lots of options to choose from. There was also an Indian chef who made special meals for us.

Love Edgar our chef. He was so fun to Watch! Food was delicious and Edgar entertained 7 kids. It was truly a memorable experience. Our 7 and 5 year old were in heaven. Daniel was our server and he was spectacular.

This hotel is luxurious and beautiful! The staff was always gracious and helpful and encouraged my attempts at speaking Spanish! :) The fresh flowers were lovely, the pool was marvelous, and the food for our conference was scrumptious!
