Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach

Decor is old, the staff was rude, the food was not worth the cost and requires a reservation but can’t make a reservation until you checkin. We got stuck with a 9 or 9:30 reservation our 1st night because nothing else was available and we were rushed out of the restaurant because the kitchen closed at 10. I bought 3 suites for my 50th birthday, including the honeymoon suite with a terrace, I wanted to have brunch with my family (6 of us) on the terrace one more and they did not want to allow us to order room service to one room. The staff was difficult but pretended to be nice about it. The only authentically nice and pleasant experience was at the hibachi restaurant and spa. I regret going here and wished I had picked one of the other resorts I’ve already stayed at and enjoyed.

when it comes to hotels i believe the most important part is your room, because no matter how nice the pools, views or food is, you have to be well rested first to enjoy it. Well our room was terrible. it was old, and i get it, all rooms are old. but the shower pressure was like someone peeing on you. toilet didn’t flush well. the walls are paper thin, i could hear voices, footsteps and every furniture being moved around. the smoke detector blinks and then the light stays on for 5 minutes which i’ve never seen other smoke detectors do. the balcony smells like smoke. when there are shows outside it goes until 10-11pm and it’s miserable because we have two little kids who go to bed at 8 and they could t sleep because of all the noise coming from outside and inside. i slept 2-3 hours every night because of the glitching smoke detector and i felt like i was in the twilight zone. the fan HAS to be on otherwise your bed literally feels wet, but the draft blows straight on your face and it’s deeply uncomfortable. worst part is we booked this room together with my parents under the same name and account. their room was in the other tower. when i asked for changes, the receptionist looked mildly annoyed and gave me a sarcastic smile saying it’s never guaranteed. we are on vacation and paid the money to ENJOY and RELAX and it is so stressful that i just want to go home. we booked it for 6 nights. but what is vacation when you can’t sleep at night?

Excellent experience! Super attentive staff, especially Fernando at the La Joya restaurant, he was so friendly and gave great suggestions. The mariachi band going through the restaurant was extremely talented and even took music suggestions from all the tables they played at. Really helped to enhance the experience. Highly recommended!

We have stayed at this beautiful location several times. Happy Shuttle was the most reliable and reasonably priced means of transportation to the hotel. Booking an ocean view room definitely adds to the experience of staying here. Housekeeping did a wonderful job each day. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The lobby bar bartenders by far made the best drinks. Eva was a superb server. The pianist was exceptionally talented as was the female violinist. We made reservations at several of the restaurants. Be aware that at the Argentinean restaurant, the dancers only perform at 7:00. We were not told of that when we booked. My petite fillet was very dry and tasteless. The loaded potato had a few bits of bacon and some cheese. This restaurant was very much a disappointment. La Joya restaurant was better but please serve soup when it’s hot. My tortilla soup was cold. The salmon was delicious but oddly presented with mixed vegetables and mushrooms in a beef gravy. Torii was a fun experience. The meals served in the main dining room were always delicious and varied. The servers aimed to please and should be tipped. I noticed quite a few people didn’t. Overall, we would definitely return.
