The Riviera Maya has its share of luxury hotels, but sophisticated Grand Residences Riviera Cancun is a notable exception to the area's crowded mega resorts. The luxurious beachfront property only a half hour drive from Yucatan's busy hub is snugly protected by a nature reserve and is fronted by a private white sandy beach. The quaint fishing village of Puerto Morelos—famous for its coral reefs, dense jungle and quiet beaches—is a quick stroll away. Roomy villas and suites modeled after colonial-style haciendas are designed in hues of burnt orange with dark wood accents and colorful wall art. They face the turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean and include large living areas, kitchens and private terraces plus high-tech creature comforts such as complimentary wireless Internet access, iPod docks, and large LED-screen televisions.

Plan to be relaxed and pampered. Great place to unwind, read a book and enjoy the ocean. Beach was always clean and calmer than Cancun

First we send extraordinary compliments to the entire restaurant team from El Faro & Flor de Canela under the direction of Luis, Arturo, Juan Carlos, Ariana & Alejandra who collectively were consistently focused on providing excellent service to guests. We experienced amazing menu selections from Francesco who was always willing to accommodate our dietary needs with expertly prepared dishes. More importantly, our waiters Emilio & Gilberto were exceptional and delivered superior service everyday. They went over and beyond and made our restaurant experience enjoyable and fun. As was Leonardo, Elias and the entire restaurant team. We can't forget the beach team and Heaven Bar waiters who worked extremely hard everyday under the hot sun to make sure we were attended to and enjoying the pool/beach experience. Thank you Efrain, Fidencio, Chez, Ismael, Felix, Carlos, Sebastian and team. At the front desk Kimberly, Elena and the entire team and the concierge group are again, ready to assist and a pleasure to work. Of course, Gustavo our personal concierge is beyond amazing and the absolute best!! He is a consummate professional. Finally, under the guidance of the Armando, General Manager, your leadership is key. Thank you all for creating a wonderful relaxing guest experience at Grand Residence's. We always look forward to returning. It has become our home away from home.

I highly recommend Grand Residences. As a Royal Resorts member who has known about it since its inception, it was on my "bucket list" to stay there at some point. We went last year and returned this year. Claudia, our Concierge, could not have been any nicer or more efficient. She called us while we were still at home to make sure our needs were met when we arrived. Beautiful resort. Excellent staff.

The accommodations, food, and service are very good here. We enjoyed that part of the resort very much. What you need to know about this place is it is like a time share where people buy weeks and come and stay. Some are 2 and 3 bedroom apartments with full kitchens. When we were there approximately 70% of the other guest were owners. The owners get to reserve their chairs around the pool and the beach for the whole time they are there which would be great if you are and owner, but as a guest we would see these chais sometimes never be used even though they were prime locations. Because there was mostly owners there, the vib was different them most other resorts I have been to. Much more subdued. There is not much shade around, especially when there is a breeze and they won’t open the umbrellas for fear of them blowing over which happen 3 out of 5 days we were there. There are better ways to secure them as other resorts do. The beach is not very wide but it is a nice fine sand. My major issue with this resort that others may actually think is good, is that I was bored after the second day. If you have been coming to Mexican resorts for a while, you get accustom to them having shows and entertainment at night. If you don’t want to see them you don’t go. But this resort had very little to offer in that department. Though on occasion there might a a little entertainment a dinner with someone singing or playing a musical instrument which was nice. If you are looking for a place to just relax, this may be your place. If you are also looking to have fun, you may want to look at other places.

The rooms are wonderful and the service for everything is top notch; however, it wasn't my favorite trip to Mexico. The quality of everything from the glassware to the food to the towels were fantastic but I felt more like I was on cruise ship. The resort is isolated from the town and other resorts and the options for all inclusive are limited and I found the seating around the pool and at the beach to be too close together for my liking and there isn't any room for moving around.
