Grand Residences Riviera Cancun in Cancun, Mexico

The Riviera Maya has its share of luxury hotels, but sophisticated Grand Residences Riviera Cancun is a notable exception to the area's crowded mega resorts. The luxurious beachfront property only a half hour drive from Yucatan's busy hub is snugly protected by a nature reserve and is fronted by a private white sandy beach. The quaint fishing village of Puerto Morelos—famous for its coral reefs, dense jungle and quiet beaches—is a quick stroll away. Roomy villas and suites modeled after colonial-style haciendas are designed in hues of burnt orange with dark wood accents and colorful wall art. They face the turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean and include large living areas, kitchens and private terraces plus high-tech creature comforts such as complimentary wireless Internet access, iPod docks, and large LED-screen televisions.

Ready for a bit of decadence? While away time in one of the beachside shaded hammocks or lounge in a chaise on the sprawling sun deck surrounding the tiered infinity pool and have a butler supply you with umbrella drinks. For active types, the resort is flush with possibilities like tennis, and beach volleyball. Inquire with the concierge team about Mexican cooking classes, Tequila tastings and swimming excursions to the peninsula's unique cenotes (sinkholes filled with crystalline water). If pampering is your main desire, shed your everyday worries at the spa with treatments like a relaxing hot stone or Lomi-Lomi massage. A wealth of children's and teen activities ranging from Mayan games to movie time, a nursery plus a dedicated kids' pool make Grand Residences a perfectly stress-free getaway for families. Stomach growling? Take your pick among a range of fine or casual dining options at the resort. You can also opt to cuddle up in your suite for dinner. In-room dining is available 24 hours a day or stop by the Gourmet Food Market and from the lip-smacking to-go menu. Whether you choose to dig your toes in the sand, relax on a sunbed, or find yourself floating to the swim-up bar, chances are you won't want to leave the tropical paradise at Grand Residences Riviera Cancun.

This was our second time here. The first time was for my brother's wedding in the Fall and this time was to escape winter. The resort is impeccable and the service is outstanding. Everyone that works there is friendly and helpful. Some go above and beyond all day, every day. Jamie Martinez (restaurant manager) always stopped by to make sure everything was ok and even brought my kids a good-bye dessert on the last day! My son loved the kids club and still wonders what Teresa and Mariela are doing each day. At the pool, Efrain, Jose(Bautista) and Angel always made sure we had everything we needed but also let us practice our Spanish - Thanks!. I think this may be a yearly thing.

This was our second time here. It is a first class experience from the moment that you are picked up in a private car from the airport until the moment they drop you off. Food is amazing, not just good for Mexico great meals for anywhere in the world. Staff is very attentive and happy. Kids love the kids club. The “master suite” is nicer than my house, I think it’s listed @ 1800sf. I really don’t have one complaint. Perfect family vacation!

Coming back to the Grand Residence is like coming home to family. I love the staff, Octavio, Marcella, Hymenoptera and Gabriel to name a few. The food is outstanding. Enjoy the Bbq by the pool. Had grilled lobster and was in heaven. Like what has been done with Heavens bar, so nice to eat down by ocean. I had the fish tacos and am never disappointed. Excellent! The nachos by the pool are a favorite and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The place is immaculate and first class. Accommodations are beautiful and look forward to next year.

Been coming here for the last four years. Attractive resort that is consistent in service and maintenance. We usually don’t get the inclusive plan but did have resort credit and took advantage of eating at Heaven Beach Bar and the Flor De Canela and we were quite please with quality of the food. The accommodations are inviting, and the amenities are excellent.

This resort is top-notch. The service is beyond anything I've seen at 5-star resorts. The meals are terrific, and you don't get a feeling of business and competition with other guests that you can get at other resorts. I'd highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a high-end, quieter place to stay. The service: Whether it's the pickup/drop-off at the airport from your happy driver Victor, or the amazing service in the restaurant from Jose, the service is above and beyond. The accomodation: The accomodations are new, clean, and convenient....nothing is too far away. The beach: It's better than the beaches in Cancun, which can be a bit rocky. There are still some rocks here but less so than in Cancun. Although the beach isn't huge, there is more than enough room to accomodate the smaller number of guests the hotel accomodates. The food: Amazing food. I recommend the Burrata! Small annoyances: There is an expectation that you sign for each place you eat or drink at. It's still all-inclusive, but you have to sign. This can get a bit annoying if you'd rather just get up and leave to your room, the beach, etc. Overall: Overall the place is a solid 5-star resort. Certainly the best I've been to in Mexico. Would gladly visit again.
