The infinity-edged main pool threads through the landscaped grounds and fronts the pristine powdery sand. Jump the diving pool's deep end and explore the built-in artificial reef. Dotted with beach chaise loungers and shady palapas, the 700-foot beach beckons to linger. The cerulean ocean is the resort's ubiquitous backdrop and all 448 rooms have private balconies where to take in the view. During more formal dinner, the resort boasts outstanding cuisine at all three of its gourmet restaurants. Enjoy pan-Mediterranean cookery at Gustino Italian Grill or feast on creative Caribbean-Southwestern U.S. fusion dishes like coffee-rubbed tender filet mignon accompanied by Peruvian potato purée at Sedona Grill. Head to exclusive five-diamond Club 91 (named after the number of steps to ascend Chichén Itza's pyramid) for happy hour libations or after-hours party time. This is an amazing hotel. We've stayed at other pricier luxury resorts, Bora Bora, Lanai, However, this one which is closer to home and less expensive is wonderful. We’ve stayed for a week and have enjoyed the friendly warm service and beautiful amenities. Gorgeous ocean view, beautiful pool with plenty of chairs poolside and at the beach with impeccable service in both places. Easy to find chairs with shade. When not windy the current is gentle enough for those afraid of heavy currents to swim. Plenty of beach life guards. Our room is cleaned/ serviced twice per day with thoughtful touches like slippers put next to the bed, rose petals one day, chocolate turn down service, towel animals, spiffy Illy espresso coffee maker in room, fluffy towels enough shampoo etc. They clean your room when you want. The people working at the hotel are super friendly and help set the low key relaxed tone here. It’s a gorgeous place with a friendly atmosphere among guests. Not show-offy, spring -breaky or crowded feeling at all. The pool area is cleaned all day and not a disaster area at the end of the day like at some places. We’ve loved our stay! I think it won an award in 2016 for treating it’s staff well. I know they are required to hire at least 30% people of Maya heritage. I wish I could remember all the names in the restaurants here as well which we thought wonderful, especially Gustino which had live saxophone music and impeccable service. Thank you Norma Edith (housekeeping), Arodi, Benjamin (pool/ beach, Ximena (cafe) and the rest of the staff who work hard to provide an amazing experience! I hope to return one day!

One of Cancun's most beautiful beaches and the most beautiful resort. The rooms are large, they have all the amenities, a great staff with great service. They have all water excursions, Mayan civilization ruin excursions, tennis and golf.

My husband and I took our 10 year old grandson for a 5 day visit in February 2018 to the JW Marriott in Cancun. My husband is a long time Platinum member and since we knew resorts do not have concierge lounges and after reading good reviews, we decided to stay at the Club 91 level. Three days before we left for our trip, we received an email from the hotel that Club 91 would be closed for two out of the five days visit for renovations and they offered us a $200 voucher for the inconvenience. One of the benefits of Club 91 is free transport to and from the airport. That worked out fine, except we had to wait more than an hour after meeting up with the hotel rep to actually leave, because we had to wait for several other families to arrive. Club 91 patrons are supposed to be able to check in on the 14th floor at the club, but since it was not open, we had to use the regular check in line, which was very long. There was an Elite check in desk, but it was feeding from the regular line, taking anyone. My husband asked the concierge if there was another place for us to get expedited check in and he got the Club 91 manager (I think his name was Walter) to come talk to us. He lead us to the front of the check in line. Walter asked us if we were celebrating any special occasions during our stay and we told him it was our 37th wedding anniversary and our grandson would be celebrating his 11th birthday during our stay. That was the last we heard of that; we did not receive any acknowledgements of these events. I don't mind, except why did he bother to ask? When Club 91 reopened on the third day of our stay, we were disappointed to find that it is really just a concierge lounge, and not even a very good one. The espresso machine broke on Saturday and was still broken when we left Tuesday morning. They did provide coffee, but it was frequently out and one afternoon when my husband stopped in for some coffee and it was out, the staff told him he could get some coffee downstairs. Another reviewer here said they made smoothies for her kids, so I asked if they could make one for my grandson. They said no, because their bar had no blender! Not once were we greeted by the staff, nor did they remember what we had ordered in previous visits, which is unlike the staff in other lounges. I had the worst margarita ever there, extremely sweet. Only later did I learn I should have asked for a Cadillac margarita if I wanted a decent one; the staff never informed us of this. To top it off, just as we were about to catch our transportation back to the airport for our flight home, we discovered that the hotel had neglected to give us our $200 credit, so had to go back to the checkout desk to get that corrected. The staff at the rest of the resort was outstanding, from the maid service, to the pool area staff and restaurant workers, spa employees and the concierge desk staff, the best staff I have ever encountered in a Marriott. The general manager really should be commended! The concierge arranged for a private driver to take us to Chichen Itza, which was well worth the cost in convenience and also directed us to a snorkeling activity. The pool area was fantastic, with plenty of very comfortable lounging chairs and lots of shade. The beach was beautiful, with a lifeguard present every day. The waves were pretty rough, with a red flag warning out every day, but you could still get in the water near the shore. We loved the Beachwalk Restaurant right by the pools and the beach. Great margaritas and smoothies for the kids. Our room was on the 14th floor and had not been renovated, but was fine. There is construction going on at the hotel and do not be fooled by reviews saying it is not an issue. It is if they are working near your room. We were spared noise until the last full day of our stay, when the pounding started at 9 am and continued until 5 pm. If we had been staying longer, I would have asked to be moved. Despite the disappointment in Club 91, the rest of the hotel is fantastic and we all had a blast. My grandson is already asking to come back next winter. I highly recommend this resort.

My family and I spent 7 days at the JW Marriott Cancun and the service we received by the entire staff was among the best I’ve received anywhere in the world. Clean, well staffed and everyone was incredibly welcoming from the moment we arrived.

As we researched the best luxury hotels in Cancun for a week vacation, they all looked beautiful. In the end we picked the JW Marriott because there were many reviews that had the same reoccurring compliment. Amazing, friendly staff. The staff, employees and service is amazing and everyone is very sincere and friendly. In addition, many of the reviews named many of the employees by name to thank them for their friendly service and providing them with a wonderful experience. Those reviews sold me. A luxury, friendly vacation was exactly what we needed, so we booked a week and returned last Sunday night. It was wonderful trip. The hotel is beautiful, by far the best and largest beach front property I saw in Cancun. We never felt crammed next to other guests while we relaxed on the beach. The pools were spread out with little bridges and a gorgeous infinity pool. to sit at and over look the white sanded beach. It seemed like all rooms had some type of a water view, or at least the majority of rooms had one. The rooms are beautiful. the newer building has sleek, stream line decor, while the original wing was very nice with more of a warmer feel. Since our college kids arrived mid-week, we were able to experience both wings...honestly both wings are beautiful. But by far, the reason I am sitting here now writing a review was to praised the employees of the JW Marriott / Cancun. The employees were the most professional, friendliest hotel employees that we have ever experienced. Most hotels have some great people, but we have never experienced so many sincere and warm employees in one place. And because of those employees, it was them who provided a very nice luxuary vacation, into wonderful experience that our family will remember a lifetime. Highlights : You must try the Chile en Nogada from the Sedona Grill I am still dreaming about that dish. Thank you to Gilberto, the Grill mgr. who tracked down the recipe for me, I hope I can do it justice when I try to make it. The Mexican Buffet night is wonderful, I could not get enough of the freshly made Mexican specialty dishes available.the Guacamole is fantastic. Thank you David/waiter for the history lessons regarding the food. Alberto/ Bellman, I don't think we will ever have a friendlier of hardworking Bellman as you. Alberto, saw our airport shuttle arrived and searched for us within the hotel so we would not miss out shuttle. Thank you Alberto, we made our flight on time. Javier the waiter on the Beachwalk, thank you for your excellent service. We never were without a towel or cold drink. Josue and Alondra at the spa. Thank you for making our mother /daughter day so special. A relaxing day being pampered was exactly what we needed. In addition, thank you for all the tips we used while we explored the town. Moldondos sp? in the restaurant. Your big smile and friendly greeting every morning made our day, Miguel the front desk agent, who was so thoughtful and friendly. Thank you providing such wonderful recommendations to our family. Trying to plan a week of activities with family members coming and going through out the week would have been challenging without Miguel. Marriott is lucky to have him. While I was at the hotel, I tried to find out why everyone was so happy and friendly, so I asked many of the employees....their answer was "they loved working for Marriott" Congratulations to you Marriott, it is very rare in this day and age that everyone from the top management to a newly hired beach attendant loved their jobs as much as your staff does at the Jw Marriott in Cancun. Thank you for the dozens of other employees I have not listed who made our vacation such a wonderful lifetime memory. We will be back to visit for sure!
