The resort was beautiful and luxurious. We loved the people, food and amenities. Service was fantastic. Our only real complaint is that after every meal, after every drink they bring you on the beach, after any service at all ... they stick a tip calculator in your hand asking for a tip. Even if you're all inclusive. We left tips every time and brought cash to do the same. BUT it's essential that you understand the calculator (or phone) is in pesos, and you need to understand the conversion rate or you'll WAY over tip. The lowest suggested tip on the phone is 10%, but the food (even as an all inclusive) very expensive. While you may be eating for free, the bill may add up to $250 and a 10% tip is going to be $25 dollars. That adds up very quickly. No one told us this or explained this to us. Our first meal when we arrived was a couple of burgers, fries and drinks, but was nearly $100 total (had we not been all inclusive), but the tip that was suggested in pesos was 10%, 12% and 15% ... all way over tipping. You can change the phone to English, and put in US dollars. Just make sure you understand, after everything you do, they're going to ask you to tip. We thought it was a bit excessive.

Beautiful resort but the thing that really made the trip stand apart was the incredible service! Eric was amazing everyday at the pool taking care of our entire family ❤️. The activities crew also made everyday a diluted fun filled - thank you, thank you Alfredo and Edwardo! We are still jogging jogging jogging ;)

We travel to Villa Del Palmar annually and love it every time! The rooms and grounds are always clean and the staff is always friendly. Ask to sit in Eric's section at the pool and he'll teach you some Spanish!

We stayed at this resort over 20 years ago, and unfortunately it’s in need of a refresh. From the moment you walk in, it feels less clean and polished compared to other resorts. The service overall is outstanding, but the restaurant experience was confusing and disappointing. We were not on an all-inclusive plan and attempted to use hotel credits received after a timeshare presentation. The credits were devalued, difficult to use, and came with a mandatory 15% gratuity, which was unexpected. The restaurants overall aren’t that great! They have a Japanese restaurant on the second floor, which has no outside seating and feels cold and uninviting. While the staff appears to work hard and is friendly, this is not a property I would consider truly luxurious, especially given current standards and pricing.

Everything and everyone was amazing. I want to thank Cruz and Leo the rest of the bellhops, they were so nice, attentive and so helpful. They were so welcoming they make a difference. Until next time...
