Just spent 11 nights all inclusive with my wife and little boy. We were here for a family wedding which all of the people attending stayed at the hotel. I'll start with he pros - rooms are nice and big -fridge was stocked always (cons for this was no alcohol for my wife as it was only beer, other all inclusive hotels in cancun have optics with a choice of 3 spirits) -food was the best we have had at an all inclusive by far (although 4 of the group did get upset stomachs for 3 of the days) -hotel grounds and pools are really nice -service was really good around the pool and in the evenings in the restaurant - beach bar was good enjoyed a couple of days there There was more CONS for us at this hotel and here's why.... - we had a bit of a rude welcoming. They don't tell you any information about breakfast/dinner or how the all inclusive works. I think this is because they want you to do the time share presentation(which we did not) - signing for everything really drags the all inclusive down. You feel obliged to tip for everything when I personally fell all inclusive should be all inclusive, I don't like carrying my personal belongings with me or want a big bill at the end of my holiday -the sea/beach is no where near as nice as the "Hotel zone" - you are very secluded if you want to go for a nice walk or anything outside the hotel think again you're in the middle of nowhere -taxi rides from the hotel are bumped up prices - there is next to no entertainment in the hotel. No people coming round asking if you want to join in volleyball/football. And there's no music round the pool either - night time entertainment or lack of it. There was nothing for kids like kids entertainers or mini discos for them which I was really disappointed in as I was looking forward see my little boy make friends and dance. Overall good stay but I feel it was more directed towards couples who wanted a relaxing/chilled vacation for a week max!

We had a fantastic week here with our two kids (12 and 9). As many people have said, the grounds were beautiful and we were very surprised by the quality of the food. What we loved the most is that this resort never ever felt crowded. We were there during a vacation week, too. Plenty of chairs to go around and never felt on top of other people. We picked an all inclusive because it seemed more family friendly although we have not enjoyed them in the past, primarily because of the food. We didn't expect to eat the most amazing sushi we have ever had in Cancun, much less at an all inclusive resort. (Get the jalepenito!!) The only disappointing food we ate was at Bites, the more casual lunch place by the pool. Would highly recommend taking a sun break and eating lunch at the Mexican restaurant right by the main pools. Breakfast at the resort was very good, as well. Coffee delicious and always freshly squeezed juices and mimosas. Fruit were amazingly fresh and delicious and I ate my weight in mangos! Never tired of the buffet. If you are pool people, you won't be disappointed. Lovely main pool, which is where we spent most of our time. Lots of hot tub areas, as well. It's true the beach is small, but we loved paddle boarding and snorkeling. Certainly have seen more beautiful stretches of beach, but the water was warm and lovely once you are in. If you like to take super long walks, you won't be able to do so on this beach. Chairs on the beach definitely clustered a bit and not really spread out. But again, we did spent more time at the pool and were very happy. People are fantastic and genuinely warm. Definitely something our kids continue to talk about. You must visit the spa. Beautiful. Best. Massage. Ever. So relaxing. A word about the timeshare. Was not obvious to us that this was a timeshare when we booked, nor was it clear that one of the pools was restricted to owners and that they also get priority seating at the restaurants. Definitely did not appreciate the concierge telling us at check in that we should eat before 7 (yes, we did wait for tables, but were in vacation mode so just enjoyed some drinks and dealt with it). This is simply to say that their website could definitely be more forthcoming. That said, we had done our homework before arriving at the Villa de Palmar so knew what to expect in terms of the dreaded timeshare presentation. We politely declined at check in and that was that. If you're interested, then by all means attend the breakfast, but for us no discounts were worth sacrificing three + hours of precious family vacation time when we knew we would not be buying. If you are with kids, you truly won't care about not having access to the infinity pool. It's not very large and kids would likely get bored. If you're a couple traveling alone, you may care a bit more as it does have the best view of the ocean and lovely lounge beds. Yes there is construction next door and it was right there in front of us each time we left the room. We were in building 3. Not a pretty view leaving the room, but we did not see or hear anything inside our room and the view from the large balcony was gorgeous. We were upgraded to a one bedroom suite - no strings attached. Kids slept on a pull down bed and couch in the main room while we had our own lovely bedroom and master bath. Overall, this was a great week. At the end of the day, vacations are what you make of them so if you are going to focus on the negative, you'll have a bad experience anywhere. We relaxed, enjoyed and had a great week. Definitely take the trip over to isla mujeres and rent a golf cart to explore the island. Fast ferry just a 5 minute cab ride. So fun!

We loved this hotel! The facility is great, plenty beach/hot tub and pool space. It's not on the main hotel strip which we actually liked. The area is a bit secluded which makes it more quiet and security at the front gate makes it feel safer than the main strip. The ferry to isla mujeres is walking distance and for 40 pesos you can be there in 30 minutes. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

We came back for the second time because we loved it the first time we went (we stayed for a week then), this time we only stayed for 4 days, although the staff and resort itself were good, we encountered very aggressive sales people that would not take no for an answer and we ended up trapped for 4 hrs in a time share like presentation (or a platinum membership so they like to call it) despite the fact that we almost begged them to please let us go, that kinda ruined the good image we had of the resort, yes, I know they have to do business but oh my God, too much. The only highlight of the short getaway was their spa, great service, very clean, peaceful and relaxing. We will not be coming back. The beautiful resort does not outweight the time we felt we were forced to waste.

The staff was wonderful around the pool and in the restaurants.... the bartenders were great too. The property is worn to be so new and the accessible beach only extends as far as the borders of the property. The water around the resort is not as nice as the Hotel District of Cancun and the resort is in the middle of nowhere. You have to take a taxi or car service to get anywhere. We went on a promotion as they tried to sell us an ownership share in their shared ownership scheme. Josh, our first sales guy was great and his immediate supervisor was okay too but after that we went through three more layers of overbearing and poor smelling gentlemen you would not want to buy anything from, including a used car. We paid for an upgraded room and got the ground floor right next to construction of their new building.... ground started getting pounded by a piling driver every morning at 7:15 am, even on the weekend days.
