I have stayed in many top hotels in the world for my work but this one is absolutely without doubt the best of the best! We stayed here during the Cannes Film festival. Nobody else than jack Nicholson was on the same floor as we some rooms besides us. Just everything like the interior, the qulaity of the bed, the bathroom, service, food is on the highest level. We were staying in a suite with an extra living room connected to our sleeping room. My wife was at that time jury of the Cannes Film Festival. I found out that Majestic Barriere Hotel is a hotel in a chain of hotels owned and built by Jean Luc Barriere. Of course we were curious about the price of our room so I called with my mobile to the hotel for price info and the answer of the lady was 3000 euro. We were astonished of course but what we received for that price was very worthwile. The best of the best, the top of the top!

Commencing with the warm welcome by Pauline (front desk) at check-in, our advise on restaurants and sight-seeing by Geoffrey (concierge), the restaurant and house-keeping staff, to our good-bye by Clement - a simply outstanding experience ! The staff at this hotel made this stay exceptional. Everyone we interacted with had a big smile on their face, were extremely friendly and helpful at any time of the day or night. This is what service with a smile is all about ! Lets start with the location. It is situated on the "main drag" close to the casino, movie theaters, shopping district and the train station. We found the proximity to the train station useful as we did day excursions to Nice, Monaco and other towns on the Riviera. The mini tourist-train that takes you around town starts from across the street. The public beach and gardens are all walking distance. We got upgraded to a sea-view room which was large and luxurious. A little balcony which opened out toward the beach made it better. The house-keeping staff kept the room tidy and clean the moment you left it, and followed it up by setting the beds up and chocolate in the evening. Just one issue, the very modern bathroom with has a bath-tub, and an extremely small shower stall. It was hard for one person to get in, so forget any ideas of a romantic shower for two. The breakfast was a large spread that could address every appetite and taste, accompanied by very attentive service. Finally, like every hotel, the valet parking was 45 Euros a night. If you do not need the use of your car (in and out often), park it at the nearby public parking garages (we parked at Gray d'Albion, one block away) at 28 Euros a night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cannes or the French Riviera.

We stayed at Barrière le Majestic after our arrival in Nice from Montreal. It was a month before the film festival but the red carpet was out, and we got upgraded by Karolyn to a suite with a balcony overlooking the hall with the red carpet. The front desk was warm and helpful. We wandered the port and streets on foot and planned our day trip to Isle St. Honorât the next day. We had purchased wine and cheese for a picnic on the island for Saturday of Easter weekend. Geoffrey at the concierge desk offered to keep it chilled for us and find a suitable container for us the next day. When we picked it up the next morning from Laurent, the lobby staff presented us with a tote bag with our wine and cheese and had added a box of Easter chocolates and a second box of bread and three tapenades and two wine glasses wrapped in linens. We were very touched and had a most memorable day and picnic on a balcony of the fortress overlooking the Mediterranean. The bar le Fouquet was movie worthy, including the overimportant Patrice, who seemed quite put out that we asked to have our table wiped from the previous guests mess after we had ordered a bottle of champagne. He barely registered our existence after that, but we found even that entertaining. The breakfasts, as others have previously written, are superb, and best enjoyed in the most relaxed manner you can afford. The room itself was recently renovated and flawless. We managed to avoid most of the construction noise during the day. When we mentioned the noise, they offered us a meal at their beach club across the street. Highly recommend this hotel anytime and Cannes in April.
