Reviews for Majestic Barrière Cannes
We were there for a week at the end of summer & caught many well-heeled guests, who were there for the yacht festival. Be prepared to be smartly-dressed. Security to enter the hotel was tight but not cumbersome. The moment one enters the hotel lobby, one is greeted by a uniquely-designed gold panther & the charm of old school luxury. The hotel also has a âminiâ red carpet by the bar for one to sashay through as one makes his or her way to and from the rooms to the lobby. Corridors were lined with pictures of Hollywood celebrities, presumably all who have stayed at the hotel. We stayed in the hotelâs junior & prestige suites, which was spacious & more than luxurious. Beds were essentially comfy & large. A welcome tray of chocolates, cookies, fruits & juices were already in the rooms when we entered with a personal welcome note. Rooms we were in had direct view of the sea and Cannes Film Festival Hall. Pros - gym with a sea view - lobby bar where one can people watch over a nice tipple (and perhaps catch some celebrities during the festivals) - breakfast spreads & food in general - private beach, which requires booking for a fee - very centrally located, with only a short walk to the right to nearby districts like Le Suquet for food or to the left for branded shopping Cons - the toilets in the rooms are old. The junior suite I was in had a terrible stench every time it was flushed and the white floor tiles had many burn stains. Perhaps time for a look into bathroom sewerage or ventilation systems - also, toiletries were not replaced when it was finished Otherwise, overall stay & service was pleasant & I would not think twice about staying at this hotel again.

Staying in Cannes, I wanted a premium hotel which I felt Hotel Barrier looked like especially looking at the reviews. Arrived and first impressions were good after enjoying a drink at the outdoor bar of the hotel. However this is where it begins to go downhill, wanting to check in we go to the reception however they tell us that the room is still not ready and to come back in an hour which was frustrating but can happen so we didnât complain. Having explored the local area around the hotel we returned to check in again, but yet again we were told that the room was not ready. Obviously still in the clothes that we had taken the flight in and on a warm humid day, we just wanted to freshen up and go to the room but this was not possible to our annoyance. Returned 30 minutes later to which they told us that the room would definitely be available and again it wasnât! A good 3 Hours after we were supposed to check in and the room still wasnât available to which the hotel just gave excuses to but no solution apart from a two glasses of champagne (hardly a solution). After finally checking in roughly 4 hours after we should have, we were given two free bottles of champagne for our evening meal however this was then given to our rooms which was odd. During our evening meal at the hotel, one of the pasta dishes was served cold and when returned just looked to be heated up in the microwave rather than preparing a new dish. When it came to paying the bill they signalled that they would waive the bill which we were not expecting but not surprised due to the check-in issues. Went pretty smoothly until check-out where they billed us for all our expenses which included the two bottles of champagne that were supposedly free, all of the meals from the first night including TWO PASTA DISHES when we only ordered one as well extra expenses that shouldnât have been there. After speaking to multiple different managers and staff for a good hour we finally got the expenses to the right amount with no offer for compensation for the time and effort that had to be put in from us for their atrocious service. Overall 5 Star Setting but definitely 1 Star Service, received better from hostels!
Booked a two night deal for an early birthday celebration. At check-in, the lady smiled and said she had a surprise - they had upgraded us to a junior suite! It was fabulous, with a sea front balcony and a HUGE bathroom. The breakfast was excellent and included champagne! We ate in the restaurant on the second night and had a great meal. All the staff we came in contact with were very friendly and professional. We had an amazing and relaxing stay and would love to return.

An outstanding residential location for the guests in a wedding. The hotel was taken over for the wedding guests for three days- and we were on of the guests. The hospitality and attitude of the hotel was superlative and cannot be faulted. The rooms were well appointed and very comfortable. I remember asking on of then waiters for something different and then apologised for the trouble- his response was â it is no bother at all and consider this homeâ totally floored me - very impressed. The hosts were more than generous in their hospitality - all in all a memorable experience.

This hotel offers a great location with incredibly friendly staff, all of whom are both welcoming and obliging. However - we booked this hotel on account of the opportunity for 'daily spa access' including pool/sauna etc. On check in we were told these facilities were closed but if we wanted a massage in our room this could be arranged. We immediately expressed discontent and were told the manager would contact us. Our travel provider also contacted the hotel on our behalf and the only consolation we were given was that we could walk to a neighbouring hotel to use their facilities - which were not as good. The hotel manager only telephoned us literally an hour after we checked out claiming to have made efforts to contact us during our stay - quite frankly an incredible suggestion given they reached my mobile post check out (both by phone and email) and yet no messages were left either in our room or on my phone/email during the entire stay. Some of the worst customer service at a management level and clearly a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. Such a shame given how hard the rest of the staff work. Needless to say we won't be returning or recommending this hotel to anyone.
