The Landings St. Lucia in Cap Estate, Saint Lucia

Oprah Winfrey saw the towering Pitons, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and declared them “one of the top five places to see before you leave this great earth.” The Landings St. Lucia, part of the Lifestyle collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, is a gateway to the Pitons, and also to an idyllic stretch of sand on the Travel Channel’s hotlist. Relax in elegant surroundings and dine on fresh fare including conch ceviche and homemade sorbets.

Have a traditional Creole breakfast at a seaside table, finishing with a sweet concoction of milk and fresh chocolate from a cacao pod. Gear up for a guided hike to the summit of Gros Piton, a magma vent on an active volcano. Climb through forests filled with orchids, hummingbirds and butterflies. Reward your efforts with a cold Red Stripe with your feet in the sand, or pamper yourself with a massage at the hotel spa. For dinner, enjoy one of the resort's three restaurants, featuring fresh fruit, vegetables, and seafood.

The Landings is one of those very special places where you can literally feel the tensions of every day life ebbing away as you step over the threshold. You are greeted on arrival with champagne and the soothing sounds of the two story waterfall feature. Not to mention the wonderful sea breeze that rolls in across the marina. Bliss. We stayed in a three bedroom ground floor apartment with a view over the relaxing marina. It was so peaceful by our heated plunge pool even though the hotel was at capacity. The standard of the furnishings was high end luxury; fluffy towels and deliciously sumptuous bedding in abundance. There are several pools available for use which are very quiet except during pool aerobics. The beach is a perfect haven of relaxation. The water sports are easily accessible with plenty of equipment including snorkels and a reading library if you would like to borrow a book. The beach bar pumps out reggae tunes and this is easily avoided if you prefer the quiet by heading further up the beach. We used our self catering kitchen a fair amount and went to Rodney Bay to shop for essentials. We found the food at the Landings to be good quality and mostly traditional Caribbean. As Vegans we found it fairly straight forward. There were always vegan options at breakfast (not just fruit and cereal) including Soy milk. All the restaurants served vegan food. We particularly enjoyed the vegetable spring rolls at the Beach restaurant and the veggie burger and fries at Calilou beach bar. I attended a yoga class on the balcony at the gym which was excellent. The kids club had structured activities including crafts and sports in a diverse timetable. Rodney Bay is a stones throw away via boat and car and the marina there is worth a visit. All staff at The Landings were helpful and friendly, from the concierge to the house keeping ladies, there is a genuine community feel about the place which is a rarity in large luxury hotels. I would highly recommend this resort to families and groups

First time in St. Lucia with my daughter and The Landings is a first class choice for a short (or long) getaway. As soon as we arrived we were seated in the lobby and offered a cool rum punch with a cold towel. Our room was upgraded to a 3 bedroom suite overlooking the marina with views of the ocean. I still cant get over how huge and beautiful the suite was with a wall of glass looking out onto the terrace, which was as wide as the rooms - with lounges and dining table. Everything at the resort is tastefully decorated and luxuriuos from the rooms, restaurants, pretty grounds to the pools and beach. The staff are warm, friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet and omelette station are stocked with all you need to eat - many breads, hot & cold items, juices and fresh fruit. The resort never seemed crowded and lounges with umbrellas were readily available at both pool and beach. I love the fact that there was no loud music playing, I came to hear the waves on the ocean. They had a bonfire dinner on the beach one night with entertainment; and musical entertainment another night. We were always seated immediately with no waiting. The food at the Beach club is delicious and well proportioned; bar/appetizer portions were a little small; the drinks are refreshing. Some units are further from beach but you can have a golf cart bring you where you want to go on the grounds or they'll stop and pick you up if they see you walking. Spend an afternoon at Pigeon Island Park - it is within a short walking distance. We walked along the road and back along the beach (you go around the fence by the security guard). While there have lunch at Jambe de Bois - a small place on the bay side and enjoy the views; go inside and see local art too. They are also open for dinner. There is shopping and dining in Rodney Bay but we only went for dinner at Spice of India, which is excellent! The concierge will arrange day trips and taxis for you - definitely do a sightseeing tour with one of the land/sea tours. We used Carnival - went for a catamaran sail up the coast and saw the Pitons, Diamond Falls, Botanical Gardens; had a mud/sulphur bath at the spring; lunch at a Cocoa plantation with local food (yummy- try the Banana bread) swimming/snorkeling after in the bay; and of course drinks all made for a fabulous, unforgettable day. If you are there on a Friday, spend an hour or so at the Gros Islet street party at night and taste some local food and beer and chat with the locals. It's fun, but take a taxi, ask the front desk for Hessy- he's a great driver! Spend some time at the Landings beach - that is what we were there for. It is probably the longest stretch of beach, not crowded and why we chose this location. It is amazing and the sunsets are breathtaking. We splurged on a helicopter flight from the airport so as to have a view of the island coming in, and get to the resort faster. I recommend it!! Take a taxi back to the airport when you leave and drive through the rainforest. Highly recommend The Landings and St. Lucia! Enjoy your stay!

Fabulous week in the most breathtaking, fascinating location, with sandy beaches and free water sports. Lovely beach restaurants and more delectable places not far away. Several swimming pools with water aerobics is easy and fun! I have never been anywhere so romantically beautiful with so many comforts provided. The apartments are lavishly furnished in a modern and crisp style and wonderfully colour coordinated to go with the sun, sand and sky. Could not be happier.

We stayed at The Landings Resort for 9 days for my wife's and my birthday and our anniversary. It was truly one of the best vacations we've ever had! We had a VIP airport transfer and upon our arrival at the resort, we were greeted very warmly. Petal, the front desk lady, who had corresponded with me before we had left NYC was beyond excellent and highly professional! The check-in was seamless. We were upgraded to a sea facing room with a butler service. The suite was very spacious with two bedrooms and 2.5 luxurious bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. We had two balconies: sea facing and marina facing with a plunge pool. The beach is very clean and there are ample loungers and umbrellas for everyone. The sea is very calm and perfect for little kids. There is a kids' club which my 5 year old daughter enjoyed quite a bit. There are tennis courts and complimentary water sports. Breakfast was included and Chef Jamal went out of his way each morning to prepare a wonderful buffet. The staff surprised us by decorating our suite for our birthdays and anniversary and had special treats and cake. We have stayed in many luxury resorts all over the world, but this definitely was one of our best experiences. I have to mention that the entire staff is most courteous and extremely professional. Truly the service was 7 star!! We enjoyed it so much that we have already booked 2 weeks for our next January/February vacation. Thank you: Petal, Nadia, Cypriana, McGregor, Andre, Catherine and Chef Jamal! You all are true jewels of The Landings!!

Excellent hotel nicely situated within walking distance of Pigeon Island and short ride to Rodney Bay and The Castries. We had a lovely suite with dual aspect balconies overlooking the beach and marina. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The wifi was excellent. Only a few small niggles: Housekeeping kept forgetting to replenish the tea, milk and water in the room so we bought our own in the end. No slippers to go with the dressing gown, and the only fish on the menu all week was Mahi-mahi. Surprising as there is usually an abundance of fresh fish in the local waters. But these are only small niggles and we had a great week. Would certainly recommend.
