Belmond Mount Nelson

Had a fabulous high tea at the Mount Nelson Hotel. The food was delicious and there were so many choices - savories, scones and sweets, not to mention the cake buffet table afterwards. Special shout out to Shannon who explained and recommended four different teas to accompany our food. She was very knowledgeable and thoughtful in her selections. She really went out of her way to ensure everything was perfect.

We had an amazing time. Our server Zodwa was so helpful and fun and made the experience even better. The teas and food were delicious and overall it was a great experience.

We recently spent four nights at the Mount Nelson, and honestly, I could not have wished for a better stay. Everything felt welcoming from the moment we arrived. The service stood out straight away, and the entire team made us feel genuinely cared for throughout our visit. Experiences like this are rare, even in top-level hotels. A special thank you goes to Michael Botha, the Senior Guest Experience Manager. His kindness, attention and the way he looked after us made a real difference. He went above and beyond on several occasions and helped turn our stay into something truly memorable. Belmond is very fortunate to have him. The rest of the staff were just as impressive. The team at the entrance was consistently friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed every conversation we had with them. In The Red Room we were served by a waiter whose name I regret not remembering. He was outstanding: warm and attentive. The pool experience was wonderful as well. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day in the city. The staff regularly came by with refreshments, and the water temperature was spot on, which made it even more enjoyable to spend time there. The hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are comfortable and everything is perfectly maintained. The bathrooms may feel a little dated depending on what you are used to, but they are spotless, practical and clearly cared for with great attention. The beds were excellent and gave us the perfect rest after long days in Cape Town. The entire property has a calm and elegant atmosphere that feels timeless. It might be the most expensive hotel in the city, but in my experience it is also the best, and absolutely worth it. Our stay at the Mount Nelson was unforgettable in every way. I would return without hesitation and recommend it to anyone looking for something truly special in Cape Town.
