A Mother's Day to Remember at the Mount Nelson
We surprised my mom with afternoon tea at the Mount Nelson for Mother's Day, and it exceeded every expectation. What a truly magical way to celebrate her! From the moment you pass through the grand entrance, you're transported into a world of unhurried elegance. It's the kind of place where you instinctively slow down and simply soak it all in. The hotel's famous manicured gardens are simply stunning, lush, beautifully kept, and framed by the backdrop of Table Mountain. Just being in that setting feels like a privilege, and it set the tone for the rest of our afternoon. A special shoutout to our server Cheslyn, who made us feel genuinely looked after throughout the experience. Service like his is what elevates a good outing into an unforgettable one. The highlight for us was being guided through the tea selection by the hotel's in-house tea sommelier. With so many curated teas to choose from, having an expert on hand to help navigate such an incredible selection, explaining origins, flavour profiles, and pairings, made it so special. We were introduced to the Mount Nelson 125 Year Blend tea, and it was an absolute standout. The food was equally impressive. Beautifully presented tiers of savouries and sweets that were as delicious as they were beautiful to look at. "Tea at the Nellie" has long been a Cape Town tradition, and now we completely understand why. If you're looking for a meaningful way to celebrate someone you love, look no further. We'll absolutely be back. Thank you, Mount Nelson, for making our mom feel so special!

We had the most wonderful afternoon tea to celebrate Mother’s Day. The food and service war amazing, added to by the wonderful atmosphere created by the grand piano. Our lovely waitress Zansa also made the day extra special bringing games and crayons for my son.
