Our recent stay at the Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and impeccable service that made us feel completely cared for throughout our stay. The hotel itself is stunning — beautifully maintained gardens, elegant rooms, and breathtaking views that perfectly capture the charm and beauty of Cape Town. What truly sets the Mount Nelson apart is the attention to detail and the staff’s commitment to creating a memorable experience. Every member of the team went above and beyond, always anticipating our needs with kindness and professionalism. The dining was exceptional, the abundantly delicious breakfast options, and afternoon tea were unforgettable highlights, and the atmosphere throughout the property was both luxurious and wonderfully relaxing. The location is perfect for exploring Cape Town, yet the hotel feels like a peaceful retreat from the world. After busy days sightseeing, returning to the comfort and tranquility of the Mount Nelson was an absolute pleasure. This was more than just a hotel stay — it was an experience we will remember for years to come. We cannot recommend the Mount Nelson highly enough and are already looking forward to returning.

The actual hotel is lovely but there were service issues. We arrived very early and were given a table in the restaurant to wait until we could check in. We were told this would be around 11am (we were a large corporate booking). Some of the team were told their rooms were ready and the rest of us told to wait another 30 minutes. No one came back. We asked for water at the restaurant (our table was on a terrace in the heat) and were told 'I will have to ask my manager as it's after 12' even though we said tap water would be fine. I was eventually taken to my room but not my luggage so I had to go back to find it. Food varied a lot. At a private dinner, vegetarians were given a plate of sliced raw courgettes as their starter. Amenity kits in the bathroom has been opened by previous guests. We had two conference rooms booked but staff kept walking in again and again despite the signage and despite us hanging 'do not disturb' signs that we took from a bedroom. It was relentless. Many of the staff were absolutely lovely but overall it was disappointing.
